Here's another VLC/Godzone freeware, Timaru Airport. This is just the airport bounds.
It'll be uploaded to Avsim, but I just need a few folk here to give it a go and make sure there are no issues.
(link removed, as now released on Avsim.)

This should work with Orbx NZSI, provided you follow the instructions to set scenery priority.

Vector Land Class Libraries 1.3 required, not included.

Any problems, please let me know -- quicker is better! Thanks.

You can download it here. Approx 20MB

Seems OK. No (to me anyway) obvious flaws. Did you mean to have the hollow from threshold of 29 until about quarter way down runway where you gradually rise about 12 ft. Looks marvellous from the club house to see the landing aircraft rise out of the ground. I love it actually; it gives a realism common to many of our grass strips.

Cheers, Ray. Flattened runways have always been a weakness in FSX, having to flatten them to one elevation to allow for AI can take some of the magic out of airfields. So at some stage I need to make a decision on whether it's better with a fully flattened airfield, or leave a bit of character, but lose the AI. At Timaru I liked it without the flatten, but the only way to get that is to completely leave out the grass runway, so you shouldn't see AI landing there at all. You can use the runway yourself, of course.

Any other testers out there?

Airport looks fine with NZSI Robin. Only a small point but the traffic appears to be driving on the grass next to some roads. Further out traffic is driving across paddocks where no road can be seen, even across a racecourse, an ORBX issue I think. The roads around the airport may just be an aerial overlay misalignment.

Another great airfield from the master ...

Very nice job. On my "bog standard VLC set-up" no issues at all after a good hard look around. Thanks for your work... clapping.gif

Cheers, certainly not an Orbx issue, I did delete the roads with the idea of fine-tuning them, but in the end I left it alone -- and forgot to remove the exclude. Will be fixed.

NZSI certainly has a lot of road traffic around Timaru, including some very fast traffic through the airport -- I've left it as-is, I don't think it'll disturb anyone, except me, and I don't use NZSI...

I'll leave this open till tomorrow, just in case there's anything else which needs attention, but it looks like a release tomorrow.

Today I've been tweaking the parking, to try and get the 1900D to always park in the correct spot, but sometimes I find it lurking around in the paddocks. And my AI traffic includes a Learjet at Timaru, which parks where it damn-well likes.

Hi Rob,
another gem yet again biggrin.gif
I do have one question, at one end of the field I am getting this, should they be hangars ?
I have the VLC Libs installed and everything has the correct setting/placement in the scenery lib as I am using NZSI.

Cheers Phil

Thanks for the help testing this, everyone.
It's now available on Avsim, if you downloaded the beta please download the Avsim final version, as this fixes a couple of things.

Here's the link on Avsim. You'll need to be logged in to download!

Thanks so much again Robin. I've started a little south island tour of addon airports, landed in Murchison last night, and downloading Timaru now. We're so lucky to have so much great NZ scenery made available.
