Hi Rob
After a quick peek at the Wanaka Airshow (brilliant), I plunged into the Wedding mission with gallantry.
Unfortunately on landing at the helicopter triangle the bride continued to wave at me!
Stopped engines and opened both doors as a hint that I was there to ferry her to the wedding but got the cold shoulder!
Do you think she has changed her mind? - She's still waving!
Oh well I will retire back to the airfield and await orders.

OK so I know she was not impressed by the way I "bunny-hopped" to the helicopter pad, so decided to wave me off!

Second attempt better. She deigned to travel with me and I safely landed her at the church.

About that other favour - Er sorry but I trashed the helicopter and the refreshments on top of Mt John!

Never could get the hang of these flying egg-beaters - still lived to try again another day.

Your experience, plus my own testing, suggests that landing off the pad somehow prevents the landing being triggered -- mission coding logic goes against that though. The trigger is a landing within a bounding box, so it may help to move at least 50 metres away from the landing pad, and try again. (This assumes that the helicopter is already 'landed' even if you are doing the little bunny hops we all do to get into the right place.)

One thing I did notice was that I got very good at landing by the time I'd finished designing this mission, which is one reason why I turned on crash detection within the mission. There are three landing sites, multiply that by a few times to get it right, and you'll have some good landing practise under your belt -- all part of the plan!

(Plus I did have one tester who invariably end up sitting nose down on every landing, and was relying on the sim to 'fix' this by resetting his orientation.)

PS The landings are in order of difficulty -- the camp is a nice easy approach, the church is a bit tight, but Mt John has a very awkward approach and it's not marked.

Well I had no trouble picking her up - you just have to land in the middle of those floaty-type boxes.
But things turned to custard on the way to the church - you can't fly a chopper and gawk at the scenery at the same time y'see.



Luckily our girl is seal trained - no no, not US Navy, I'm talking aquarium here, and she managed to swim out OK.
Had to dump the dress though which caused a bit of a stir among the guests.

Next time out, decided to get something more utilitarian, and by gum we got there in record time!
Beat the best man there, the groom desperately calling for reinforcements, and the ring.



One small problem: on departing, the combined jet efflux blew everyone straight past the altar into the lake!



She's given up on the nuptials now, and is settling in with a couple of girl friends instead...
