Blocky Coastline

Hi,

I recently bought the Topo from simMarket, loaded up the sim, and when I switched to the top-down view I saw my coastline had gone all 'blocky' (see attached picture).

I have the 75m mesh, and landclass, as well as the old lakes fix. What should I do to get my coastlines back to the way they were? smile.gif

That's how the coastline is isn't it?

Ok, serious now, have you tried changing the priority levels in the sim? Moving the mesh to the bottom, topo then add on above it (or the other way around as I'm not at my pc at the mo)?

Of course I should have tried that before posting. I'll give it a shot Matt. rolleyes.gif

I've put the two 'PPP' files just above the 75m mesh, and gotten rid of the old lakes fix ... the lakes and rivers the old lakes fix used to level out have now disappeared. So, blocky coastline and no lakes/rivers in the middle of the South Island, the lakes fix also seemed to have 'smoothed' the coastline on the Canterbury Coastline, now its blocky as well. blink.gif

Im on msn at the mo ... but I just looked and I have it in order from Top to Bottom:

All my add on sceneries (NZ and rest of the world stuff like airports in order of where I fly most at the top)

"Add On Scenery"

Topos and Landclasses

Meshes

then Generic, Propellor, Vehicle Libraries etc then all the stock standard aerial photo stuff.

Alex,Go to Christian's site and download the nzlc.zip file which is free. It's only a very small download, unzip and add the files to the 75 mesh. The nzlc file superseded the old one that you had.Hope this may help you

If you search 'Coastline' in the new forum search engine, you will may find your answer: http://nzff.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=677
As Lawrie indicates in that post, you may perhaps already have a copy of the topo installed and it is an error caused by a double up?

Alex, if you have purchased, and installed the NZ Topo scenery, but you still have the old FS2002 Lakes fix installed, REMOVE the old lakes fix..................... it causes level problems and coastline problems all over NZ if left installed.
This may be the problem, and if you read the install instructions carefully for the NZ Topo it tells you to REMOVE the old lakes fix.
Also, check in the Scenery / Ocen / Scenery folder to see if you have any double ups of the filenames in the following list.....
If you have BOTH the same filename there, one with a .bgl extension, then the same filename with a .bglx extension, you need to remove the the files with the.bgl extension, and keep the ones with the .bglx extension.

Hi Alex

From that screenshot I can clearly see that the topo isn't acticated. You need to add the topo folder to the scenery library. If you have, you must have linked it to the wrong place.

Also, as mentioned, get rid of the old lakes fix (I see you've done this already). The topo does the job. This isn't causing the problem you're seeing, but will cause other problems if you don't get rid of it.

Don't worry about the renaming of the files. The installer seems to have done the job, that's why you're seeing what you're seeing!

Cheers,
Christian

Hi guys,

I do have the landclass, and installed it, have also got rid of the old lakes fix.

Thanks for the advice Christian, I'll try extracting it to a folder I know of then manually adding it to the scenery library later tonight after work. smile.gif
