cat out of bag - need feedback

I'm currently working on a side project - a free online magazine for flight simmers. I'm hoping to start in Jan and I'm working frantically towards that. I've just finished a first mockup. Can you please give some feed back on look and content (well what you can see now).

The site is just a mockup - a fair bit is to change, and nothing is functional as yet (no you can't sign up yet ;) ), but I'd like to get feedback on look and feel already now...

I really like it Christian. If all the articles are like that then it will be the online FS Mag of choice. Good technical info, gave the whole story, not just the usual look in. History of instrument interesting, short as it needed to be but no shorter. Do you have proper journalist or writing experience? Sure looks like it,well written.
Good that others can submit articles for consideration.
I hope you go ahead with it. Where you'll find the time God only knows, but it always amazes me how 'doers' do so much in the same 24 hours we are all given to do what we wish with, this being what is meant by 'we are all created equal'. We all know this is simply untrue when it comes to privilage, upbringing, social and economic status. However time is the one commodity that we are all given the same amount of each day, some end up doing it,having it,not having it, wasting it,buying and selling it!
A very important subject in aviation, well time to go.

Looks pretty good, and a good thought. too.
I'm sure it'll cater well to flight simmers.
What's the motivation and thinking about joining up?
I am a little wary these days about revealing an email address, let alone joining anything - most times it just seems to generate email solicitations from Russian ladies anxious to meet with wealthy American men.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys - much appreciated!

Codge: I don't have any journalist writing experience, but lots of technical/academic writing (which is a plus, but also a hinderance  ). Tell me about time, there just isn't enough. I don't feel like I'm on top of my time schedule, but having personal goals that mean something important to me is certainly a first step in the right direction of making good use of my time...

Charl: You need to change your attitude towards spam. What I do is spending all the money I win in Dutch lotteries and earn from laundering African money on pen1s enlargements and v1agra. So, I don't have a problem with meeting those russian ladies - guess how I'm spending my weekends
On a more serious side, the emails addresses going into my database aren't going anywhere (I respect privacy). Like any other site, you'll need to sign up to join the forum or post your own blogs. Other than that, all I'm going to reveal at this stage is what's on the mockup: "customize, earn points, get newletters & get rewards". There'll be some very nice surprises and incentives for people who join :)
But I know what you mean. I get over 100 spams a day these days. You can say I'm numb to the whole experience - I don't let it bother me. Something you can do is create email aliases you use for signing up on different websites, so you know where the spam comes from, and you can also dump the alias when the spam gets too bad. Something I'm not doing as yet, but may investigate soon...

Looks good

One minor correction: 15000ft is, of course FL150, not FL15.
