Anyone else seeing these square shaped blank textures on Mt Ruapehu?

I'm not sure if it is just my bad graphics card, but I have the RBE 20m mesh, topo and landclass installed here.

Hi Trolly

Yes I get the same. There has been a recent blog by an MS developer openly admitting he messed up somwhere in the FS2002 code. Good news is that they found the bug and it'll be fixed in FSX - doesn't help if your running FS2004 though :(

Cheers,
Christian

Hi Christian, I didn't want to start a new topic if I didn't have to but thought this thread would do for my question and I hope you see it.
You used to have a link/download for a file written by a german guy I think that fixed lines in the snow on mountains. I want to download it again but now I can't find it on your RBE website. Have you removed it? I do have it somewhere saved but my computer housekeeping has sort of gotten out of hand and it'll be easier to re-download it than go through about 6 DVD's to find it!

Howdy Codge,

Not Christian, but ...

Joachim Buhre's fix is available here .

Simply copy the replacement files into the "scenery\world\texture" folder (of course, you might want to back up the originals first).

What does Joachim Buhre's fix do?

Howdy,

You will find reference to the "fix" in the Red Baron LandClass Readme file (30.09.2005). For a further, detailed, explanation this, from the Red Baron NZTopo Support FAQ page:

"Q: After installing the landclass, I get grid lines in snowy areas. Is there a bug in the landclass?

A: No, this well known bug resides in FS2004 and also occurs in default scenery. Coincidentally, the same week the topo scenery was released, a German scenery guru (Joachim Buhre) has released a fix by replacing buggy FS2004 texture files. The default files have serious errors that cause a number of problems, one of which is the lines in snow areas. We wholeheartedly recommend this update. The documentation is written in German, but all that needs to be done is copying the replacement files into the "scenery\world\texture" folder."

Hi Trolly

This fix doesn't get rid of the blurries - as I wrote earlier that's an unfixable bug in FS2004. It does however get rid of the lines in the snow (yet another FS2004 bug).
