FSX Visuals Part 1

A forum specifically to discuss the latest and greatest of all flight simulators

Postby JonARNZ » Fri Dec 08, 2006 11:34 pm

One of the things that continues to amaze me with FSX is the depth of the visual upgrade it brings to the simming experience without needing to use add-ons to acheive it.

As someone who grew up with Sublogic's Flightsimulator for the C64, then the Amiga version followed by the first of what we would consider the more 'advanced' versions, FS2000 (I skipped FS5 and FS98), the reason I love this 'hobby' is because it takes me to places I have never been, and allows me to have adventures that I'm unlikely to experience in my non virtual life.

With FSX, for all the criticism and complaints it has received, what it offers is a level of realism that I personally have not seen before. I'm sure there are some people who have all the fancy freeware/payware add-ons etc that can make FS9 look just as good, if not better than FSX, but what I present here is part 1 of a series of images that are untouched, unaltered, default Flight Simulator X in all its glory.

I hope those who choose to look at these images can enjoy them for what they are, and for anyone interested, I'm happy to send them full resolution 1280x768 versions of any image, just PM me.

The 1st and 8th images are personal faves.

beautiful! i mean, just look at that first city shot of Sydney- a comprehensive CBD and autogen to burn! now all i need to do is upgrade to a PC which can show me that sort of scenery at 25fps :D

i agree with you about the add-ons: this game can appeal to those who like to be full on 'straight out of the box'. and that is exactly how MS have marketed it.

Wow :o They look utterly fantastic! I'd best do some more saving for that new PC.

Jon, I think you've proved the skeptics wrong about FSX - that's amazing!

Performance issues aside, this sim is way ahead of it's time. It's just been released a bit prematurely.Inspiring pics.
