I am looking at using the FSX gliders ballast dump feature to simulate the spreading of fertilizer in the Fletcher. Basically it means that when the hopper is opened a steady flow will ensure that the hopper empties over a set period, and thus the weight decreases (roughly one minute of spreading). the good thing is that you can turn the flow off and on.
whilst it works ok in FSX I would like to test this theory in FS9 as my FS9 refuses to run. Firstly I do not know if a ballast control function exists, so this needs to be checked under "control assignments"
If it does then to test my theory add the following lines to the bottom of the aircraft.CFG file for a FS9 aircraft (the FS9 glider say)
[Water Ballast System]
//Tank.n = Gallons, Long, Lat, Vert, iValve
Tank.0 = 20, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 2 //Hopper
NumberOfReleaseValves = 1
DumpRate = 0.01 //Gallons per second
Also copy the file "fx_WaterBallastDrain.fx" from FSX effects folder to FS effects folder.
Lastly you may need to map the control for ballast dump to a key assignment.
If you get this far then once the aircraft is loaded the payload menu should show the ballast field. Once you activate ballast dump via the key command the payload should decrease, vapour should stream from the rear of the aircraft until the ballast is gone.
For the Fletcher the trail will be replaced by my topdressing effect.
Thanks to anybody who can assist
Deane
