I spent some time looking to change the default view positions in FSX
I found they are in each aircraft.cfg file under [views]
There are 3 settings which you can adjust to set your head position exactly where you want it. When set correctly the VC head position will be perfect each time. No fiddling round zooming etc.

Is this what we have in fs9 too? Or is this the views optins from in the panel.cfg in fs9?

So you can set a certain direction to be looking at by defualt? Thats kool, as far as I know in fs9 you can only set zoom factors and things for the 2d...

These settings allow you to set the default VC view so that the view forward has the right prospective on loading an aircraft. You can position your forward view left/right,forward/back,and up/down. I found the views supplied by MS where generally too far away making it difficult to read the instruments. You need to adjust for each aircraft.
