Scenery library priority

A forum specifically to discuss the latest and greatest of all flight simulators

Hi there fellow simmers.
I am looking for advice on how to organise the priority in the FSX scenery library. I have trawled through many forum pages looking for an EASY way to do this but cannot find a concise answer. blink.gif First I started adding VLC, plus object libraries and lots of NZ airports...No problem, just follow the insructions. tongue.gif The confusion starts when I want to add mesh and add on scenery etc for other countries, Should I put the mesh and other object libraries above all the NZ scenery or down lower with VLC? unsure.gif Also I have a lot of Orbx add ons (SP4 Aus. full terrain) plus many of their airports. I read that there used to be a utility that would sort the priority automatically, it was called FSTscenery by Steve Greenwood. This sounded like just what I needed! But I cannot find it anywhere! (Probably obsolete by now?) dry.gif Has anybody used this programme or could give me clear instructions how to go about getting my scenery library in the proper order? Any help would be much appreciated. thumbup1.gif
Thankyou.

There is no real layer priority required unless you have a problem scenery or file , it then is easy simply just to pull it up - let the FSX re-edit it and your racing , the problems only occur when you have a forth party addon , example ORBX .

Edit : I consider any scenery developers outside New Zealand forth party . wink.gif

I think of it as layers, carpet first and then the furniture, the dtm mesh and landclass are the carpet ,photoreal is a rug so it sits above on the list and the airports are the furniture which can be in the same folder as phototreal etc like most addons come ,if it does not cover New Zealand then it can sit anywhere on the list above the default active scenerys .
Orbx which does effect other parts of the world and many other addons while active , use the ftx central to de activate it all together when flying your other addons , Orbx landclass which again is a carpet all airports sit above but may not be compatible yet or ever .

hope you understand my exsample somewhat blink.gif

That's a good way to think of it Mike smile.gif

In terms of other countries, no big deal where they sit relative to each other as there will only be potential conflict in areas that overlap geographically anyway.

FSX is pretty good at organising different types of data so will photoreal will always sit above landclass etc even if it is below it in the scenery library.
