The first stop would be to check avsim for a modified effect file....I'm pretty sure it has been done a lot.
Otherwise, you can have a go at modifying the effect file itself by reducing the dimensions of the effect texture

no that picture is not so bad - its more when an AI dash 8 lands and all you can see is a whole lot of smoke and no aircraft for a few seconds'All things are possible to him that believes'
