FSX Specs

A forum specifically to discuss the latest and greatest of all flight simulators

I thought FSX was kind of optimised for dual core but not quad core.
I've read something along the lines of "it will use one core most of the time, 2 cores sometimes and the 3rd and 4th very rarely/not at all".
The consensus from a thread I posted a while ago wasn't really clear, but in the end it was three votes for dual and 2 for quad.

If you get the Q6600, the try and get your hands on the G0 (Golf Zero) version, as these are widely known as the best, most stable, most overclockable version of the Q6600.
I would say E8400.

Yes it could happen if you've got lots of addons and stuff I suppose.
I was only quoting what one of the FS developers from Microsoft said on their blog, but it was a year or more ago so things may have changed.
They were also talking about the default FSX install with no or very few addons I think.

Interesting...originally FSX was not coded for multi-core.
I sort of lost interest during the SP1 SP2 Tango.
Phil Taylor's blog also made it clear that "some" threads could be offloaded, but it's not multi-core software.
Are these people only running FSX or are there other apps using up the slack?

Yer Phil Taylor was the one.
Thanks Charl.
As for other apps using up the slack, Obviously they've got an OS running plus its associated rubbish.
