G'day folks,

This problem has been present on a number of installations of FSX over many moons - doing a normal approach and landing in the VC, power reductions and engine noise is normal, but on clicking to spot view after landing the engine noise is still at high revs but producing no power as the aircraft is now stationary. Both default and payware acft types involved, can be intermittent or all the time depending on PC time of month I guess.

In order to reduce the noise to normal idle the brakes must be held on and the engine blipped to high power and back to idle, then noise drops to idle. Have just reinstalled FSX and it is still happening any ideas??

Yeah I've always had this at various times too- I've never seen a 'fix' for it....so I assume it's just a bug? Multi engine aircraft seem worse for it?

Are both of you running Vista/Windows 7? If you are, the reason you get your sound bug is due to the way Vista/Windows 7 handles sound files. There is a quick (and slightly annoying) way of fixing it, if you wave a spare moment on approach press the "Q" button twice (turning the sound on and off) which will reset the sound.

Yep, W7 it is, will try the old Q button twice trick and hear how it goes - now why didn't I think of that - thanks connor.

I have exactly the same problem on every insatall and every pc I have had FSX on. Seems to be on specific aircraft for me. The default beaver always does it and some older payware planes but none of the newer stuff. Highly anoying i agree. Have never seen a fix for it despite my neverending (now given up) search for answers.

I had this problem until I installed a newer set of drivers for my sound card. Could be a problem with your card's DirectX support? And yes, switching the sound off and on helped. I would notice there was a problem because the sound would audibly loop. I first noticed the problem because I couldn't get an audible radio ID on NDB's. Resetting the sound fixed the problem for a minute or two. Installing up-to-date drivers fixed the problem up until now (knocks on wood).
