Posted: Fri Apr 15, 2011 9:15 amMost of the problems reported when SP1 and SP2 came out were because of hacks/fixes applied by users before those service packs came out. A few problems have been observed with installation but in general, they are a must have- The service packs fix a whole heap of things with FSX and most addons require them to be installed.
If you are flying FSX without the service packs applied then you are potentially missing out on a lot of performance and features (espectially if you have a multi core processor, the power of which is only supported with application of SP2)
