Took these snaps on the drive back up to Auckland the other weekend......This is on the road near Tahuna on the road that goes between SH 1 and SH27.

This is around the same area in FSX

Hehe. Classic. Things are dry around these parts all right. I took this pic from the top of the Nikie (sp?) hill out the back of Huntly on Wednesday. Apart from the piece of greenery bang-smack in the middle of the lens the rest of the horizon is all browned off...

In school we have been indoctrinated with the image that we are 'clean green new Zealand'. Oh they lied. -_-

Flying over the north eastern south island and the inland Kaikoura ranges, you'd swear you were flying over a moonscape. A step even beyond brown.. to barren rock..
Amen to that Ian.. Kids should be all given a copy of FS2004 or X for their 13th birthday.. that'll keep em out of trouble ;)

Waiheke seems to be always brown in the summer. Its a bit hard to hold up as an example of the 'drought'.

Central Otago - brown now, brown every summer, brown every spring, brown every autumn, brown every winter damn it's even brown in the dark!

Seriously feel for those places that aren't used to it and especially the farmers. We get it all the time so are used to it, we average about 380mm rain a year where auckland city manages 1200mm annually.
