Hi, this might sound like an obvious question with an obvious answer but here goes:

How do you make an ifr flight plan in FSX with a stopover.

eg. Auckland-Christchuch via Wellington.

When i tried this and flew the flight, it never told me to desend etc and made me fly over the airport at my cruising altitude.

I'm not sure that FS supports that; you might need to create two separate plans, one for each leg...

Yes from what I know, you need multiple flight plans.
I looked on Google, and everything I read seemed to agree with this. Link.
That's the way it works in real life too.

Not always, in Canada for example you can file a flight plan in which you have at least one stop (using the Route field in a similar manner to which you'd indicate a planned climb (during a step-climb)). I'm pretty sure Canada uses the ICAO system (over FAA e.g. USA), therefore it's probably possible to do the same anywhere, pending regulations by the local regulatory agency... (I think )

I wouldn't actually have a clue myself, just based off of the site I linked too.
Someone posted the Canadian form and said there was no room for more than destination.
Then again if you used the route field like you say then that would be a bit different. Depends I guess.
Either way, FS doesn't seem to support stopovers like that anyway.

Yep, you use the route field, my source is a pilot acquaintance in Canada... I'll hunt around for some more info and post it up eh.

I think you should file two plans as this would be how it would be done in real life.
Like a 737 from AKL to WLG then to Christchurch would file two flight plans I think.
Can you set up like an VNAV profile that would allow a descent and landing in Wellington then take off again on FS X?
Anyway good luck for getting your issue resolved.

Kind of core functionality and it might be impossible to replace/add on to.

I think FSNav let you setup flight plans like this...

unfortunately it is 2004 only... and it does not look like they're going to update it to FSX, given that they have stopped selling for 2004!

Mmm yea, you could do that with FSNav.

Wee thought, I've heard that FSCommander does a similar thing to FSNav, and works for FSX, so maybe that is worth investigating if you're hunting for a solution?
