Since upgrading to FSX, I can no longer use FSNavigator and I've had to invest in FSCommander.

One thing I liked in FSNav was that the outline of the lakes and river centrelines in NZ were all there. But in FSC, all I get is the crude outline of North, South and Stewart Islands.

I read somewhere that you can add long/lat co-ordinates to a special FSC file to add these sort of features.

Has anyone using FSC done some work to improve the quality of the base map for NZ in FCS?

Well that seemed to get a good response.

If anyone is interested, I have started creating the NZ lakes for the UserObj.TXT file in FSCommander. Using the Ruler tool in Google Earth, it provides the Long/Lat co-ordinates required by FSCommander. The ten lakes I have done so far merge perfectly with the data FSCommander has derived from MS Flight Simulator.

It should be completed by the end of this week.

Likewise i have moved from FSNavigator to FSCommander. The map is one of the areas i never liked with it, also the database seems to disagree with some of my FSX nav frequencies etc which is odd. I am slowly Creating User Waypoints for all the Rnav approaches that are not included in FSX. I hadn't even got to the point of looking at updating maps yet.

I seem to remember in FSNav that the river centrelines and lakes were actually on the map ... almost like it has got it from Flight Simulator itself.

It's pretty evident in FSCommander that only the navigation and runway data is from Flight Simulator, the country border is a crude attempt from the makers of FSCommander.
