Hi Guys,

wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue, i am running fsx with sp2 running on windows 7 7100 build rc, if i use the menus, or the right click menu, after about 5 times fsx crashes to the desktop. it seems to be a common issue that i have been able to find, but no one seems to have come up with a soloution, anyone else have this issue?? i seem to spend more time trying to get fsx to run for more than 1/2 hour than actual flying, and i don't mind saying i am getting very annoyed with it

Well, it's only a release candidate, and the idea is that people will try their favourite applications, and then tell Microsoft what the problems are.
I haven't managed to get fsx loaded yet, there always seems to be something else to do. Is there a procedure to send details to Microsoft when it crashes?
Although what they can do about it since they fired the FS team is a bit of a worry. No doubt there will be others with the same problem, and if you browse the Microsoft forums you might get the answer there.

Had this problem as well.

Luckily simple to fix.

Find the FSX.exe
Right click on it > Compatibility > Select XP SP3 > Apply > OK

will give that a try, it seems that there are alot of people out there with the same problem, some people are blaming the nvidia drivers, others blaming fsx, it seems to be happening accross all platforms too, although i didn't have the issue with vista 64 (but i had other problems) it would seem that it is not a windows 7 issue perseu

edit: tried the running in xp sp3 mode, still crashed, this is getting to the point where i might give up the flying for awhile, i.e. until a new version comes out there always seems to be something with fsx, that i seem to spend more time trying to fly than flying. might even go back to fs2004, at least that flew almost everytime without crashing.

I have same problem as you Jason. Tried finding a fix too. Have tried uninstaulling acceleration and instailling sp1 and sp2 then just sp1 but does nothing.

But the way I found out to make it work is just to change fsx out of full screen ('Alt + Enter') and its worked fine for me since.

I tried the 'Compatibility ' thing but SP SP3 wasnt in my list. I only got up to 2000, not XP..

yup i never use it in full screen, i have always used windowed mode, this is what makes it even more frustrating is that i have tried almost every fix out there, except the most extreme, give up and go do something else, like simcity or DCS:black shark

Try ticking the running administrator mode as well?

yup, done that as well, from what i hace gathered it seems that it is a combination of nvidia drivers, fsx, windows and a little bit of pixie dust in the wrong place, no one seems to have come up with a fix, and everyone seems to have slightly different combination of issues that cause the same result.

well thanks for all the help with this guys, but the problem seems to be getting worse and still no soloutions to fix it, so i am leaving FS for a while, may try and get a copy of fs2004,if i come back to fs at all, but i will still be flying, i have decided to give the DCS:black shark ago, looks good to me and has a great simulated depth, which is what i like, see ya in the virtual chopper skies!!!
