Hey guys- This may be a stupid question but i havent been able to find the answer after a brief search: Does GNZLAP work in FSX???

Does anything need to be done differently in FSX cf FS9?

Well it's just AI after all, which I believe transplants happily.
I haven't done it myself, but I believe it works fine.
If your computer can handle it :ph43r:
Edit: Jon's tried it

I have installed all versions of GNZLAP projects and all looks fine, also I have installed VOZ AI so now the NZ international airports[check out NZAA] are full of local airlines.(the only problem I have encountered was some of the doubled up title files between VOZ AI and GNZLAP, easy to fix with either deleting the VOZ aircraft or changing the aircraft CFG file.FSX will inform you with which aircraft have doubled up.)

Now fsx AI NZ looks great and you can now easily run AI settings at 100% with better frame rates than the orginal fsx AI. :clap:

I will attempt to install other fs9 AI projects into fsx and let you guys know if they work.

TIP# make a backup of your modified fsx NZ Afcad files as some of the GNZLAP files will place aircraft in buildings eg NZAA.

This is good to hear KP, thanks for posting.

Good practice generally, applicable to VOZ in this instance as there is no GNZLAP NZAA.

Nope no overlap there - astonishing example of trans-Tasman co-operation!
However if you have earlier versions of GNZLAP there are overlaps.
I was hoping this might be resolved in the standalone GNZLAP 5, with the possible exception of the dreaded Phantom Pipers.

As far as installation goes, did you use the "normal" folders?

AFCADs =>Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Addon Scenery\scenery
Aircraft =>Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes
Flights =>Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Flights
Traffic =>Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Scenery\World\Scenery
Sounds =>Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Sound

Does Editvoicepack work in FSX, can the callsigns be used?

Thats correct install as follows;
AFCADs =>Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Addon Scenery\scenery
Aircraft =>Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes
Flights =>Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Flights
Traffic =>Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Scenery\World\Scenery
Sounds =>Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Sound

I tried creating a new folder in SimObjects called AI Aircraft and installing all AI planes in there but they would not show in sim.

I have tried other fs9 AI projects like Origin and RNZAF 757 and they all work fine in FSX.

If you make a new folder in SimObjects then you need to add an entry to the FSX.cfg file. Heres a copy of mine

[Main]
User Objects=aeroplane, Helicopter
SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\Airplanes
SimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\Rotorcraft
SimObjectPaths.2=SimObjects\GroundVehicles
SimObjectPaths.3=SimObjects\Boats
SimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\Animals
SimObjectPaths.5=SimObjects\Misc
SimObjectPaths.6=SimObjects\Addon_airliner
SimObjectPaths.7=SimObjects\Addon_helo
SimObjectPaths.8=SimObjects\Addon_light
SimObjectPaths.9=SimObjects\Addon_military
SimObjectPaths.10=SimObjects\Addon_Warbirds
SimObjectPaths.11=SimObjects\AI_Aircraft

Note I have added several folders to enable me to sort out my add ons. The AI aircraft work fine in this way

Thanks for that, this will tidy up the sim considerably since i have more AI aircraft than fs aircraft and it was getting quite messy.

Hi there

Thank you so much for the wonderful addon. I really love it. I was wondering if anyone else was getting the following niggles in FSX. NZPM shows it well:

Sorry I don't have a better screenshot to illustrate it. It appears that the runways and taxiways are too far left. Does anyone know why this may be, and what I can do to fix it? I think it has done it to every airport. Or is it that the afcads that came with the GNZLAIP aren't compatible?

If they aren't compatible, and I remove them, will I still have GNZLAIP traffic?

Thanks!

Glad you get enjoyment from GNZLAP, NZC - I can't live without the AI.
Except in FSX, that is, where I have none (I treat it as an arcade game :lol: )
Short answer is I believe there are differences between FS9 and FSX in placing the airports.
Given the AFCADs were made for FS9, you will always have issues.
I'd take the AFCADs out.
Since FSX has better stock airports than FS9, AI should still appear all over the show.

Awesome, thanks for the reply. I'll remove the afcads that came bundled in, and add FSX compatible afcads and let you know how it behaves :)

I loved coming into NZPM and seeing Massey planes taking off. :D

Hi,

Last night I went home and tried to install GNZLAP into my FSX. Copied all the files into the appropriate folders as per the instructions, but not getting any of the AI aircraft showing up. Is there something I need to do to get it working in FSX?

Also running VOZ ai and that's working all good.

Any help suggestions appreciated. Thanks

OK I've merged all the FSX questions into this pinned topic - think all the answers will be found above.

i think the confusion was the 'airplanes' folder. under the main fsx folder there is also an 'airplanes' folder and there is the sim objects>aircraft folder. thanks for clearing most of the stuff up guys

Hi all,

Have finally installed GNXLAP.

Had the double up of aircraft, so due to lack of skills just deleted the VOZ aircraft.

Still however recieving doule up errors

Read as follows:

There are multiple objects with the same title name.
They must have unique title nimes.

Piper PA31-325 Navajo AI
Simobjects \airplanes\AI_PA31_Navajo

And

AI Cessna 421C Ard ZK-STV
Simobjects\airplanes\AI Cessna 421C.

I cannot find the double ups anywhere in the simobjects\airplanes folder.

Any advice much apprieciated.

Cheers
Derek

I'm not at the sim computer but from memory there is a line under [fltsim.0] which is duplicated across 2 models.
FS9 doesn't pick it up but FSX does.
Just change one of 'em slightly (it won't affect any GNZLAP aircraft).

GNZLAP is awesome, alongside Voz AI you have the ultimate NZ package.

Thank you for your efforts.

After reinstalling FSX, I'm reinstalling GNZLAP.

I remember I was able to get the voicepack working with EditVoicepack last time, but now it seems adding 3rd party voicepacks is a "coming soon" feature.

This doesn't make sense because:
a) I got it working last time and
b) WoAI traffic has modified voice files.

Any clues how I can get the callsigns working in FSX?

***EDIT***

OK, looking in the community mod part of EditVoicepack, I can seen "Massey" so somehow the callsigns made it to the right place. Don't know how, don't know why. The whole thing is a mystery to me smile.gif
