MilfordSoundX - Version 2

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby HardCorePawn » Tue Mar 04, 2008 4:20 pm

After some arm twisting from Mike, I decided to liven Milford Sound up a little bit...

New Features:
  • 3D buildings (FSS/Tower, Helo Office + Hanger and some houses) modeled on real world Milford Sound Buildings
  • Hardened helicopter trailer if you want to test your helo skills
  • Other 3D bits and pieces like signs, fences, park bench and rubbish bins modeled on real world Milford Sound items.
  • Realigned the road to fit the scenery better
  • Lots of trees to give the place a bit of atmosphere

NOTE: All 3D items kindly supplied by Creator2003... dude, you're a legend!

and of course from the original version we still have:
  • Airport Flatten to remove 800' mountain that the default runway sits on and flatten out the area a little
  • Relocated runway so it is a little closer to the real world position
  • Taxiway for 29 threshold
  • Apron area with some start locations for GA aircraft
  • Helipads and start locations for the eggbeaters
  • Relocated refueling point
  • Boundary Fence and windsocks
  • Valley/River Flattens for those who do not have NZ Topo

Please read the included readme.txt for full details and installation instructions.

Anyway, click to download MilfordSoundX (version2). (Thx again to Mike for the hosting space  )

Here are some screenshots to give you an idea of what the new version looks like:

As Alex pointed out, Mike (Creator2003) did up the buildings for me... my friend Paul supplied some photos from his recent visit to Milford Sound (I actually asked him to take some pics if he got a chance, and as luck would have it, his bus tour stopped in the airport carpark for 5 minutes :) )

Mike used some others (like some of the signs, shed windows etc) that he got/created from various sources/random pics... And then he whipped up some awesome 3D buildings for me...

Free for you guys maybe... no doubt those buildings will cost me a beer or three next time Mike is in AKL and we have lunch!

Hi there

I currently have the following problem with MilfordSoundX:

I'm using the Geographx 75m mesh and the Red Baron Land class file (http://www.simpilotexperience.com/media/nzlc.zip)

I'm using the Flattens file, because if I don't, I get the two big hills either side of the airport. I've tried various different combinations of load order for the MilfordX, Flattens, Mesh, and LC sceneries, but I just can't get the rivers at the right level.

Without the flattens file, the rivers are at the right level, but then I get these happening:

So obviously, I do need the flattens file winkyy.gif

Is there any way to get the benefit of the flattens file, without it raising that river?

Thanks!

Same deal here - with exactly the same mesh/class files. As I've never actually been there, I presumed that was what they look like laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Actually while troubleshooting another problem I found the problem.

I had "cvxMF_RIVER.BGL" in my addon directory, as well as two other NZMF BGLs. NOt sure when I installed them, but it goes to show you how you can lose track of things, and problems they can cause later.

Adamski, try searching for cvxMF_RIVER.BGL and see if removing it does the trick

Hmmm ... I haven't got a RIVER BGL at all ... any chance of a list of the files in your MF scenery directory? I seem to have quite a few "flatten" BGLs.

Do you have the flattens in a separate folder, and is it above milfordX in the scenery list?

I *did* have them in a separate folder - then I moved them all into the same directory (thinking tha may cure it).

So ... I take it that all the flattens should be separate and *above* all the other files? I'll try that!

... YES!!! It all works great now! ***AWESOME*** scenery. All the rivers - everything - all look OK (to me!).

I really must make a trip down there ... particularly by plane!!!

Many thanks!
