Static AC repaints

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby Kahu » Mon May 28, 2012 7:21 pm

I am wanting to do a RNZAF repaint of an already made scenery object of the A4 skyhawk. Is this able to be done using Photoshop or is it more complicated than this because it is a static object?

I have tried to open the Bitmap Image with PS but get an error message.

You'll need a programme called DXTBMP found here http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Gr...rs/DXTBmp.shtml
That converts the .dds or other .bmp texture into one that PS and other graphic editors can read.

Cheers for that, I used to use this program years ago for IL2 repaints.

There is also a Photoshop plugin which allows you to open the dds files directly into Photoshop. It's an NVIDIA utility but is supposed to work with any graphics card, just make sure you pick the appropriate version for either 64bit or 32bit.

NVIDIA texture tools for Photoshop

Just tested it on CS6 and it still works there so should be good for you too.
