You need to create texture for each season , this possibly also be best to try and replicate the same for the airport photo layout to match the season as well then each is label last _lm for night or _su for the summer .

Oh forgot to mention too. The Lighter main Trees are the Pohutukawa with the yellow leaves and the other Darker trees are the the pohutukawa wih the darker normal green leaves which I too when in New Plymouth last. Does anyone know how to add season textures to scenery objects in FSX???? I would love to make the pohutukawa blossom red in the summer time (:

Red blossom in summer would be cool. A few polar bears here and there too, - in winter of course, and not near the runway, which could be dangerous.

The plant in your pic actually is a young nikau palm, - they arch elegantly at that stage. Mature ones (after about 30 years) have a windblown feather duster look, like the ones in your first pic of the airport model, atop a 5m or so trunk. To me they look completely different between the young and mature stages.

I do think some flax and a few cabbage trees would add authenticity/believability, but that's really the icing on the cake.

Geez hav'nt used 3dmax since pre 2000 but Gmax should been the same , its the same as creating night textures or you need change the the texture appropriate to light but this will increase the size of your scenery 2/3 fold.

If you have any pics of young Nikau Palms which are good I'm more than happy to swap. the more accurate the better (: There are a few plants there that are cabbage trees at New Plymouth Airport which Im gonna add soon. If you, or anyone else has a great picture of them to use for my scenery would soooo be appreciated!!!!? (:

Yeah my scenery BG is pretty huge I don't know if I should add season to any thing other than the pohutukawa trees. Its soooo Kiwi to have blooming red pohutukawa trees, I should add them just for that haha (: Being in Canada I miss it!!

Here's a pic of a young cabbage tree I found at:

Shouldn't be too hard to get rid of the sky around it. Slightly funny angle though, looking up at it.

Couldn't find a young nikau that would be good to use. There must be a scenery designer who has some native plant models though, - might be worth a separate thread?

Unfortunately you can't add seasonal textures to normal models in FSX, just autogen vegetation has seasons. Some people use pre-FSX techniques to add seasonal textures to airports, but they don't work with trees, as pre-FSX alpha channels don't work in FSX.
Have you taken a look at the Vector Land Class Libraries? There are some native trees there which might be of use.

Kinda thought so as I couldn't find anything about scenery objects with Seasonal changes. Does the VLC have a list of trees? Does it require a separate download to work with my scenery or can I include the files with mine?
