I was born and raised in Hawera and got to see all the big projects in NP as they were built, including the power station, Maui, Motunui etc. My friends father was a welder on the NP power station project back in the 70's and I got to go through the whole plant - I was only 7 at the time. Unfortunately we could not get up to the chimney on the day I was there, but we did get on top of the boiler house which is close to 200 ft itself.
I have also been to the top of Paritutu many times. A great vantage point.
I have got a Hawera aerodrome scenery which has been on the back burner for a while, so will have to get it squared away. Just need Stratford aerodrome, Norfolk rd and few of the energy projects added an the Naki will be looking good in FS!! A shame we can't get all the photo real covering the area as Taranaki is quite a nice size area to cover.

well Deane, from one hawera boy to another, hurry up, FSX needs hawera, i miss the old town, loved climbing up the water tower when you were allowed too, used to go up to NP and watch the big loads going out to the synfuel plant, they moved some big equipment there. if you finish off hawera, you will have to do kiwi dairy's, my grandfather and dad spent alot of time out there, an i got to see through the place too. i used to live in Grant V.C. St, where in Hawera did you grow up??
