New Plymouth Airport Scenery Released (FSX)

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby Aviatordu28 » Sun Sep 29, 2013 11:52 pm

Hi Everybody,

I like very much this beautifull scenery. Well it's perfect within FTX NZNI ! However, I've got airplanes crashes too, anywhere on the runway... I must to desable Airplanes crashes in FSX settings and then the scenery matches well. I've discovered that the airplanes crashes occur when NZNP_No_8_Wire_Fence.bgl is on. If I rename it NZNP_No_8_Wire_Fence.OFF, I haven't any aeroplane crash. I precise that I have not any VLC addon installed on my FSX, neither old NZNP scenery.

So I prefer the first solution : disabling crashes to keep the fences, because I don't want to hurt any sheep !.. winkyy.gif

Sorry for my poor English. Have a good day.

Christophe from France.

Alright. The Scenery looks good, but has *some* issues. Namely, EVERY SINGLE AIRCRAFT THAT IS NOT AI CRASHING. Unless, of course, you disable the fences. I believe that there needs to be an update to this, in which No Crash is ticked and attached in GMAX (or 3DS Max, whichever).

Good evening Everybody winkyy.gif,

Perhaps an issue with the crash boxes within NZNP_No_8_Wire_Fence.bgl ?..

However, I like very much this scenery with views on Mt Taranaki !

Have a nice day.

Christophe

That's exactly what the problem is. Now, all we need is to fix it...

This scenery is absolutely outstanding! I began my Flight Training at New Plymouth Airport and it is great to see an HD and easy to use scenery package. Hugely beneficial to helping my real-world training smile.gif

Hi everyone, I have had a few people email/contact me that when they start from New Plymouth airport with my custom scenery, the aircraft immediately crashes (sorry if I haven't got back to your emails regarding this, I have been really busy) Just to let you know I'm currently working on a patch for this and it should be ready soon. I'll keep you guys informed!

Also I have been working on some custom scenery enhancements for New Plymouth city. Custom local landmarks like the Chimney and Port. And downtown areas like the old State Insurance building, Centre City and more. Not sure when this will be finished, but will let you guys know of updates smile.gif

Hi Ian, sorry mate I didn't realize you were doing one as well. I haven't been on here alot lately. Guess we both have had NP projects on go for a while! lol. I've just got the city AGN which blends into the surrounding country with about 50 odd custom NP landmark/buildings models made in it. I see your AGN has got the city and the surrounding country side out to Waitara as well which is pretty cool.

Yeah the flattening goes outside the main airport fence aboout 200-300m so it blends in with the hills sourounding the airport. I did this so it would blend in both with ORBX and VLC (both being slightly different). Its not perfect, you might see some sudden edges around the airport. It was very annoying to work out lol.

Ok same photo same AGN, Did you want me to send you what I have since you know the area better, or visa-versa, be a case of making duplicate scenery and simply copy the AGNs across, a clever trick but you have to be careful so as not to loose any work.

Another thing, were you working on the photo Mike did of the area ? .. I have one with the blemish - a straight line from the point and not blended or completely edited .

Your file has arrived , I'll take a look at that tomorrow and glue both together and see how we are cooking ... cheers thanks for that, looking forward to check your work out.

The photo background? Nah I did that. I blended the photo by cutting around the urban areas and enhancing the colours to match VLC/ORBX.

With Che's airport and the city complete , makes for a great hop between NP and Wanganui .

Indeed yes Ian. Take off from Che`s New Plymouth in my trusty Tiger Moth, for a liesurely cruise to Wanganui, with a touch and go at Lawrie Roaches Stratford, brief stop at Deane Bauntons Hawera, fly over Lawrie`s NZVM Contact Energy Gas Plant then on to FS Creations Wanganui. An interesting flight all the way. We are certainly blessed to have so many fine and accurate scenery add ons to complement VLC aren`t we. notworthy.gif
