Hey guys,
I just wanted to give the autogen annotator a go as the area around NZWN is a bit out of alignment and not quite as condensed as I'd like. I have the SDK all sorted, and default.xml is in the same folder, but I'm unsure on how to start. What type of file do I need to open? It doesn't allow any bitmaps to be selected. I understand how to use it, just not how to start a project.
thanks.

You open a bgl file , this is where the image was compressed for FSX use ,that would be found in the main scenery folder of the scenery you are editing..

Aha, the "open" dialogue was set to "Summer" files. Not helpful. Just flicked it to "all".
Now, question number 2:
Can I place vegetation? When I try, it seems to think I have no tree objects.

Ian W is using this tool on a day to day bases so he will be best to explain in detail or Rob ,from memory you have to select a tree guid but im really not the guy to ask as i havent use it for a year now..
so ill let the others answer the tricker questions so not to get you lost..

Right. The problem I have is that it won't pay attention to the object I want to set as the GUID...

Try this:
In the Autogen Configuration Editor, open autogendescriptions.xml
In the Vegatation Groupings window, select any Grouping or Regionalisation so that it is highlighted.
In the Annotator Control box, click Set Guid beside the vegetation button. You can now draw vegetation using either of the two tools (V or I)

Got it. I was expanding the groups and selecting singular entries.
Question number 3 and hopefully the last one

:
When I go to save, It says "Error saving!" with no explanation. Any ideas what's going on there?
EDIT: Forgot the exclamation mark. It's probably important.

What exactly are you annotating?

I would think there will be a conflict of a AGN on the wellington payware scenery as you would need to have robins work save file for the agn or it would be doubling up AGN in spots ? so you would have to delete and backup what files are already in the texture folder of that scenery and start from the beginning ?, im not sure if when you are doing a area if the save you do is the same name as whats already been done or it saves it with a different name ,if it is the same then you are going to have conflicts of data ..

Bloody UAC again. You'd think they'd just send out a new service pack that makes it suck less wouldn't you?
So yea, I got that sorted. Annotated one of my own. Now to get my hands on some GeoTiffs and make some real scenery! Thanks, guys.
