Good news for Real NZ Auckland users...

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby bigdogshark62 » Thu Jun 08, 2006 4:57 pm

This may be old news, if so I apologise.

I have found that the airports from Deane Baunton's Auckland 2005 work pretty well with Robin Corn's Real NZ Auckland. Here are some screenies:

The AFCADs are of my own creation, so if you'd want to use the sceneries, you'd have to make your own AFCADs to suit your taste. Also, I had previously adjusted the height of NZWP using JABBGL, so you may have to do the same.

Otherwise, fly and enjoy!

Indeed it is good news Rob!

Could you perhaps upload your fixes in a zipfile and link them on this site?

I'll probably only be able to upload the AFCAD's and a How-To readme, as the airports are Deane's and Shayne's and I wouldn't want to upload their work without their permission.

But I'll see what I can do.

I uninstalled those sceneries because I had elevation issues at NZWP.
Be great to get a readme help file to get them working, if you could spare the time!

Been really busy the last couple weeks. Still planning to put together a readme to get the files working.

To get NZWP and NZAR to work, I had to use JABBGL to get the heights corrected. Done a lot of work on it to get things pretty close to right, but it's been worth it.

Will try to work on something soon so everyone can use these two packs together.

If you've got Lee Swordys AFCAD.exe. Change the elevation to 74.4ft in Airport Ref Point properties.

I'm sorry, I've been really busy with work and RL projects lately. This is going to be a busy couple weeks for me. But I will try my best to get something together during the first part of next week.

Just to give you all an update on the progress:

I've redone the AFCADs for NZAA, NZAR, NZNE, and NZWP to make them conform to the Auckland 2005 and Real NZ Auckland sceneries. I've also had to readjust the height at Whenaupai and Ardmore so the AI doesn't float. Also had to flatten the area around Ardmore so the mesh didn't climb through.

So I'm mostly done. Just need to package it and document it, and then it'll be available. Maybe a day or two. We're almost there! :D

It is DONE!!!

Soon to be available at AVSIM (already uploaded) is Auckland_Real_NZ_Airports.zip. Includes all the files you need to get things working. Pretty big download due to the fact that I did include the airports and textures.

These airports are NOT my work. They're Deane's, Savern's, and Shayne's. I just retooled them to work within Real NZ Auckland, made AFCADs for them, and adjusted a few altitudes so everything would be "on the level."

Downloadable soon! Enjoy!

Hi Rob. Is this just the airports alone ?? Does it exclude all the other original Auckland 2005 scenery, such as the static aircraft at NZAA, and the downtown buildings, port and harbour bridge, roads etc etc ??? I love the look of NZAA, but combined with Robin's Auckland city, i get 2 skytowers, 2 harbour bridges side by side etc .

Cheers,

Lawrie.

Have wondered this myself, since I need Deanne's Aukland for size due to the amount of AI traffic (Shaynes is just too small) and Whenuapai would be nice. But you are right about the 2 cities appearing, hopefully this solves that. (And good call on hamilton lol)

PS: In general loving these forums. Great to see a fantastic amount of talent in NZ coming out through here, really good to see...

Hey guys!

Yeah, this is actually just the airports, which is why I say you need either Real NZ Auckland or Auckland 2005 for the city in the readme.

The NZAA is actually Shayne's, but I have tweaked the AFCAD to improve the gate situation and fit more in there (I, too, run at 100% AI with every single pax and cargo airline that serves Auckland). I've got spots at NZNE for GBA, Ardmore has been tweaked for AI performance, and Whenaupai has been redone to fit 2 757s in there (since it's home base).

The NZAA has most of the statics removed (there were a couple static Bandits I couldn't get rid of), so all in all it works fine. The others still have statics, but it adds some life where the AI doesn't have as much effect.

The city shouldn't be a problem, as I have removed all the CBD files. I use Real NZ Auckland, so this works well with my system. I have only one CBD, no mirrors or duplicates.

Hope you like!

Sounds fantastic so definatly can't wait for it. Can we chat a little about in email? Maybe you can help me get Deanne's Auckland Airport in as an alternative?

Either way tho, you're doing a fantastic job... Wel done

OK I'm in the middle of a full re-install, so see this in that light.
At NZAA, no AI loaded:
9. Frames. Per. Second.
I get 25 fps anywhere around RealNZ sceneries, so this is a serious issue with this package.
I notice an awful lot of texture files (Nova etc) in the scenery addon, and maybe there is texture duplication making my system choke.
I've deleted everything and am putting back elements one by one,
So far I have NZNE running, to my delight (it's home base), and NZWP. It' s just not the same without those round sheds isn't it?
NZAR has mesh problems it seems, not sure what the AI will make of the taxiways?

I'd be interested to hear other experiences, I hope it's just me with NZAA.

And a plea from the heart: Is there anyone who can strip out:
1. ALL static aircraft - heck we have to have somewhere to put all those Cessnas!
2. Those very schematic-type roads around NZNE. We have roads in the right place already.

Thanks for your effort Rob.

All Shayne's and Deanne's use Nova and Airport 2.60 Textures. Bit of a pain for frames but really not much we can do about it ill the airports are updated for 2004 but i'm guessing we won't see any till FSX sadly due to lack of info (Particularly for NZAA which really needs it) :(

Charl,

Make sure you add that Flatten file from the readme. It specifically addresses the mesh issues at Ardmore.

As for the frames, you may want to talk to Owen about using Deane's NZAA scenery. Shayne's NZAA does have a lot of detail (which is why the guys at Auckland 2005 liked it and used it).
