As promised (some time ago...) this is now freeware, and I finally found the time to upload to Avsim -- see the What's New section in their library.

The other FS2004 stuff is still to be uploaded.

actually it would be MKIV by my calculations, I am eagerly waiting for this too! Also Robin, will Real NZ work with P3D or is this going to be another headache?

Wellington is still in the phase where I can't imagine how I'm going to manage all that work:) This isn't a progress report, as I no longer give them -- I've been doing this long enough now to know that I never have a clue how a project is going until I wake up one day and decide its finished. That didn't happen today...

As far as Prepar3D support is concerned, this will happen, it just hasn't been a priority until the recent price changes. Until then, P3D support was a bit of a marketing gimmick. Still, I know that a few people used my scenery in P3D, it transfers without problem, so I will integrate this in any new releases, and add support to existing stuff.

At the moment I'm still unsure about how FTX support will work out -- there are a lot of variables, and I may not know how this will work for a long time. Will FTX users want non-FTX airports? Will it be a problem that any FTX compatible airport will need to be a bit of a compromise?

P3D support is easy to implement in a stand-alone installer, but this won't work for me without doubling my web storage, which is not in the budget at the moment.

I do in fact have a working installer code which will know if you have FSX or P3D installed, and offer a choice of install if it finds both. For a simple scenery this is easy to implement, but I wanted to start with Vector Land Class and libraries. The major hurdle here is the VLC Config tool, which isn't mine, and I also need to give some thought to registry tracking of multiple versions etc. I can do simple installer coding, but this doesn't come naturally to me... One day I'll just be too old for this. When I start replying "when I were a lad, we didn't need P3D support' you'll know I'm past it.

In the meantime I offer this P3D migration tool for Real NZ Nelson:

  • In Windows Explorer, open the FSX folder;
  • In a separate Explorer window, open the Prepar3D folder;
  • Select the RealNZNelson folder within FSX;
  • Press Ctrl-C
  • Shift focus to the Prepar3D folder (with your mouse, not your eyes, dummy!);
  • Press Ctrl-V
  • Do the same for RealNZNelson_Aerial
  • Do the same for VLC_Libraries
  • Run Prepar3D and add all these folders to the Scenery Library.
  • This is just a joke! Don't do any of these steps!
  • Although it would work.
  • No it wouldn't, there's too many ways you could stuff up your installation.
  • better to wait for the updated installer.
  • No, you're right, this could take a while, better to do it yourself.
  • Are you mad!? Didn't you see the bit about this being a joke?

Thanks for your thorough reply, nothing is straight forward I see.

I've now uploaded Real New Zealand Marlborough for FS2004 to Avsim.

I see the Wellington scenery took 3 days to equal the total number of payware sales over 3 years -- I don't really know what to make of that:)

There's a sticky topic in the SOH FS2004 Forum about this.
I suppose one should feel good about the fact that 1136 FS9'ers did not steal the payware at the time...
