Hi Guys
I just recently installed FTX Global and i'm happy enough with the results smile.gif However i have encountered this problem in Greece where i do a lot of FSX Flying.
Essentially the coastlines of all the Islands and many of the larger areas of land are all straight and give the appearance of a 'blocky' looking landscape, any ideas?
Cheers

I do have FTX Global , what town did you fly out off so we can compare, do you have any other addons?

Have a look at the same area in openstreetmap. That's where they get most of the data from. If it's blocky there they may need to find another source?

Flew out of Skiathos, yes plenty but none in this particular region other than REX and UT2
Thanks

I'll take a swizz now and compare, I currently not running any other outside scenery.

Looking at your first pic, on that boot-shaped island at the left, I can see one coastline (thick grey/white line) where the land meets the sea, and another one actually in the sea, cutting across a couple of bays. This suggests a layering problem.
I don't think REX does anything to coastlines, but UT being a mesh, certainly did in FS9. I don't have FTX Global, but I think it has its own mesh, and if that is so, and it does not work to the default coastlines, you could see this sort of thing.
For a 'quick and dirty' test, move the Orbx stuff up to the very top of the Scenery Library list. Alternatively, move UT down, so that it is below FTX Global. That should ensure that FTX is loaded after UT and over-writes it..
Personally, I suspect that FSX has islands that FTX doesn't, and REX being aware of those default coastlines, is texturing the islands as best it can.
Hope that makes sense, and helps.

It is blocky but compared to other regions default , very similar across the world, the contrast of the ocean and the Med terrain texture.

I wonder what your SETTINGS - DISPLAY and what they set to, experiment with those sliders maybe the option, in this area I have everything to the right and Mesh resolution at 10m.
Do a screen on these setting and see If there is an improvement.

Very much the same screen Marty showing the extra detail - still not brilliant but I guess FTX Vectors come into play there if brought, I'd
love to see a compare with Vectors in .

Oooh! - nice, real-looking, fractal coastlines there, but the sea textures are very blocky...maybe disable REX in the Scenery Library, and see how it looks?

It would be interesting to see a ORBX Vector compare and course to find out Marty's settings and maybe with that his PC spec's.

Thanks guys.
My Display settings are all to the max, with the exception of Water detail and autogen density (Very Dense). Also when i said UT2 i actually was referring to Ultimate Traffic, sorry i realise that was misleading!
Computer specs are my signature.
Cheers

Marty, my blue, when I see UT, I think "Ultimate Terrain"...caused me lots of hassles in FS9. blush.gif
A machine like yours should be able to handle just about anything - but like any other 'poota, it is perfectly logical and has no common sense at all.
So it will do exactly what it has been told - that is why I think the 'last order' being obeyed first is at the heart of your problem.

Looking at the system specs and seeing the result , you may be right Mike, obviously there is conflict and if running UT with an ORBX program is more likely the answer .
