Complete NZ Autogent Replacement Scenery

Hey all,

Edit: I originally posted this in Ant Davison's thread but thought to now add to a new one as it is a different (but complimentary) product i'm working on.

Just thought I would step it up a little as i'm well underway with creating the most comprehensive autogen environment New Zealand has ever had.

Seeing as this is turning into a massive project and very time investing, i'm likely to place a small charge on the end product, don't worry, i'm not greedy nor trying to do this at an enterprise level so the cost will be very low indeed, it will just help me justify all the time I am, and will be, spending on this complete autogen replacement scenery. working it out it would be sold at $12 and any updates and improvements will be absolutley free for the lifetime of the product for existing purchasers of the product.

I have setup a facebook account so you can follow progress as it happens.

I really want this to be a complete scenery replacement that should work away from decencies on other 3rd party products.

Most of all i'm open to feedback and will do my best to assist and answer queries.

Cheers,

Kelvin

Hey Kelvin. Cool project and nice idea to setup a FB presence.

Just a suggestion though, a group would be much better than a distinct profile like you have there now, many people (myself included) will be reluctant to add this as a "friend" as a lot of people worry about exposing their personal stuff through FB friendships. Not too late to switch it to a group now.

Yes, I second deeknow's comment about a FB 'page' -- I tend to restrict my FB to family and people I've met, although there are a few flightsim folk in there. A 'page' would be a much better idea, I use this for Godzone, and it works out well.

Good idea, I'm new at this sort of thing, believe it or not so I'll take your advise on the FB group thing. I have setup a group called the same.

Hey all,

I though I would do something a little different and offer a sample area for you to try out, of my Autogen Replacement Scenery. This was created primarily for Ant Davisons NZ photo scenery and after a while, well, i just took off and autogen happened and as I put autogen over the photoscenery in it's very dense form, I started to wonder what the entire country would look like with highly accurate vegetation and autogen, never seen before, well i've never seen the amount of this created for New Zealand outside of Orbx.

So here you go, this is a sample from Auckland region so at the very least if you wanted to only purchase a part of Ant's scenery then that would be the central part. I'm sure when my autogen is finished you'll want the whole package. >nzflag<

Download the file here:

Ant Davisons NZ Photoscenery can be purchased here for a very generous fee, indeed.

Feel free to pop over to my NZScenery group page for screenshots of work in progress.

If I want to retain Robin Corn's recent photo scenery areas and have them at higher priority than Ant Davidson's coverage, then is your autogen going to place objects over everything including Robin's scenery, or is there a way of restricting your autogen to Ant's photoscenery?

Thanks

NZScenery has been design for Ant's Photoreal.

However, it is possible to use my autogen with other photoreal sceneries but because my AGN hasn't been split into regions you would have to copy the whole texture folder into the respective photoscenery you wish to use it in.

I have done this and below is a screenshot of Christchurch which is a separate photoreal scenery.

Again pity such photo material and autogen tools were not around 15 years back, it is a good effort.

I don't think that you ever see autogen from one scenery displaying on another photo, so if you are seeing my photoscenery, then you'll see my autogen. The sim tends to display photoscenery based on the current LOD, so as you fly into an area, you'll generally see a larger/lower res photoscenery, and as soon as it runs out of LODs the higher res scenery will kick in. However if you have high res photoscenery further towards the top of the Scenery Library, it should kick in earlier. This is kinda different than other scenery priorities, though.

Some of my scenery uses Library Priority to tweak this, for example Nelson has a separate photoscenery layer so that the high-res airport doesn't switch all the time with the lower-res region. The installer puts these in the right order, so you don't see a conflict, but for 'general' photo coverage, you might need to shift stuff around to get the proper priority.

Thanks for elaborating. I get the gist of how it all fits together now.

Cheers
