Hi guys,

I'm looking for a mesh for Rarotonga. I'm sure I had it once, but I can't seem to find it on Avsim, flightsim, or that walhalla scenery list. Does anyone know where I can find this file? Or am I just imagining it...

Christian's payware Cook Islands package: http://www.simpilotexperience.com/flight-s...ds-Scenery.html

Yea, but unless I somehow pirated that (which I'm sure I didn't; don't kill me Christian :ph43r: ), I did have a mesh for Rarotonga and I can't for the life of me find it again...

I'll dig up a couple of pictures I posted a while ago showing it. ;)

Edit: Here it is, you can't see it so well; but it's definately not a default mesh there. Its more obvious when you can actually see the island proper, but this gives you can idea...

Ah, you may have downloaded it from 'FS2004/FS2002/FS2000 70m Global Terrain Mesh for The Whole World' from simviation.

You can download little sections of mesh according to the location on the world map, found here: http://www.simviation.com/fsdterrainsrtm.htm

Do a search on Avsim for Cook Islands Mesh. It is by Christian and it comes with I think 150m and 40m mesh.

--------------------------------------------------------
File Description:
FS2000/FS2002. This includes a highly detailed elevation mesh for the Cook Islands in the Pacific Ocean sourced from 1:25.000 contour data. I resampled this to 150m (LOD8) and 40m (LOD10), the horizontal error is about 50m, the vertical error about 10m (ie, it's extremely accurate in geographical terms!). This scenery is sourced from the LINZ NZTopo Database. Crown Copyright Reserved.
--------------------------------------------------------

The payware also comes with the coastline data so you get all the roads and those nice lagoons.

There is also airport scenery at flightsim.com (Raro2.zip) as well which is pretty good. It includes some buildings around the airport and a cruise ship off the beach. It also has static aircraft but comes with instructions on how to remove them. Air New Zealand sends the odd 772 there.

Thanks Dan - I was also looking for a freeware Cook Islands mesh a while back, but didn't find that one for some reason. Does it work in FS9?

And yes, I can second that Rarotonga scenery - I have it, and it's quite nice ;)

And in less than an hour I have what I was looking for, excellent service guys, you should be behind those desks in information centres and the like :P . But seriously, thanks to Dan and Trolly for your help. :)

Air NZ also have a regular A320 service out there; which used to be filled by their 767's, but has been gradually replaced by the 320 as the 767's have been phased out. ;)

Havent got the mesh, but did download Tim Clayton's Raro airport. A few details in it arent
quite right, but its way better than the base one. My wife and I had our honeymoon on Aitutaki
and flew out there from the mainland on a Air Rarotonga Saab340, so of course when I got home
I had to download the exact skin (for FS2002) and fly back-n-fwds a few times to the Island.

here's a RW-pic of the Saab...
