Instruments

Hi, Recently installed the TDS 789 Trent Air NZ version and also the ANA 789 aircraft.
Look great but their are no instruments/gauges in place - have the gauge templates but they are empty...........
Both installed files show panel but that's it..
Anybody have any suggestions please

Hello Barrington -

Look at your main FSX\Gauges folder, and see if there is a subfolder within it, also named Gauges and with a timestamp corresponding to the date you installed the plane.
If there is, that would mean the installer has placed the whole folder there, instead of the contents of the folder.

Make a second install to a new folder outside FSX, and tell the installer to put it there - that will show you what file structure the installer creates, and you can see if anything is missing. (and makes it easy to see files that went to the wrong place).

Check the panel.cfg to see if the files being called by the cfg are correctly named, i.e. the names match the cab file name.
If the new plane is looking for gauges from default (or other) aircraft, are those aircraft in your FSX?

I have struck all of these faults over the years. I now use empty folders named Area0, Area1 and Area2 to 'assemble' new planes, before moving the final item to the Aircraft or Airplanes folder in the sim.

Take a squiz at the Marco Spada 787 panel for FSX. Uses a bunch of default gauges, but its nicely done. Is what I've been using when flying the seven-eight...

Will have to check that out, I have the TDS (working perfectly) and the Aerosim (Hate that damned panel) so will have to look into this one...

One thing I can say this is an aircraft that takes some getting used to. It's like the illegitimate offspring of an Airbus and a 767 to fly. A really weird hybrid with it's own strange characteristics and takes some adjusting to. Will definitely be one for the training captains at VANZ to have a field day with lol
