Hi there, does anybody know how to remove the interior cockpit reflections in FSX Steam? I know they are there in real life but I dont want them in my sim, they look awefull and spoil the view especially at dawn and dusk. I tried to join up the steam forum but for the life of me could not find out how to post a topic, never seen such a non user friendly forum in my life, I have googled the problem and there are fixes but when I open the aircraft file in Steam there is pretty much nothing in there. Its not the same as fsx boxed. When I click on the aircraft in question I get some kind of notepad file with bugger all in it. Any help would be much appreciated, these reflections are spoiling my immersion :-(
This is something I could look into , I brought the $5 dollar deal but yet to install or progress into .. surely it cant be any different the original FSX ?

In terms of the key files fsx.cfg, scenery.cfg, aircraft.cfg, dll.xml etc etc its not, it's identical...

No, I have mine locked in game at 30 and get around that most of the time, one post said to go to fsx/simobjects/aeroplanes then click on your desired aircraft and inside add .bak at the end of the reflections entry but when I click on my desired aircraft it just comes up with a file called "state" and inside there is just a couple of lines in notepad form and that's it, worse, some of the aircraft just have empty files? I dunno, maybe I'm looking in the wrong area
Buzz .. most , I think all FSX models are inbuilt with shadows , least the defaults and very certain cannot be edited .. what aircraft do you have that is causing this issue?
It's the default beach Barron 58, I think your right that it can't be edited, I have no clue why they would not give you an option to get rid of it, or even have it in the first place, in certain cloud conditions it's very difficult to view outside, a big floor for steam I think. I've just got steam looking really good and have been holding off getting a payware aircraft cause I'm not sure if my system can handle it, you have any idea how much a payware Barron 58 would tax the system?
A thought , the Manfred Jahn models maybe a great alternative , that the DC-3 and the Lockheed Constellation , both freely available from Flightsim.com , I not sure but very certain the adjustment off both had the cockpit shadows remove .. the DC-3 build from the MS default , truly never I never use outta the box defaults unless on re-install setup. ... just an idea the DC-3 maybe one to look at and see if the problem persists.
I don't know why SE would be different, but you could just try searching your FSX installation for the Baron's reflection (copy/paste this into Windows Explorer search box open to FSX)
