took a look at the orion,...filled it up to the gills with gas,..and took off from NZWP runway 21 at approx 135 kts with a bit of nose up trim and flaps set to approach (2 clicks). what wheather are you flying in ?...

Fair weather...

I just tried taking off on the settings you suggested (2 clicks is 30 deg flaps?). Just managed to get of the runway 33 at NZOH at 175 kts

I must add the stick is full back.... after I'm airborne if i centre the stick it just drops like a stone. I've taken a short video take I'll post later so you can see what it's doing.

you say the aircraft drops like a stone when you center the stick after take off,....you need nose up trim......as you burn off fuel you will find you need less trim. more flap wont help because the flap lift is set as in the real aircraft,..as in you get a ballooning effect lifting the back end of the fuselage ..pointing the nose down. with correct amount of trim you will depart the runway at 125-140kts depending on fuel weight, elevation and temperature.

BTW,..didnt see whether you are useing FS9 or FSX. A note for anyone reading this also,...the models are designed for FS9,...so make no guarantie that they will function properly in any other version of flightsim.......

Ok have got it sorted.... had the trim around the wrong way :whoops:

I have to learn to pay attention to my joystick assignments.

When I'm in the C172 or B737 if I press the elevator trim up button the trim wheel turns toward you (i.e. down). So just assumed it would be seeing the same in the P3, but it's the otherway round. So I was pressing the elevator trim down, I was seeing the trim wheel/slider turning down as if it would in the C172 or B737 (thinking it was up) (confused?)

I can take-off nicely now when I set elevator trim up about 1/3 up.

Thanks for all your help guys (and patience.) Feel free to have a chuckle at my expense and to rib me at will.

You can only but laugh - just don't put me in charge of a real plane (just yet)

I'm off to torpedo some submarines :plane:

Hi Adrian

I run Your Herc and P3 in FSX..........they're awesome!!! Never had problems with either, it seems to me that they run just as well in FSX as they do in FS9

hahaha......If these are your 'basic' models What do you call complex? :) Both are awesome!!!! >nzflag< :plane:

there is a sound problem with fsx i think,...the startup sounds dont work right from what ive seen,...that is because fsx has a different sound engine enabling directional sound entrys. I wont be tinkering with fsx stuff for a little while yet....
