Myself with the help of "DaveC" from flyawaysimulation.com have made a repaint of the default FS9 Douglas DC-3, in the colours of the current ZK-DAK owned by the Warbirds Association of New Zealand.

The repaint is not 100% accurate, but pretty close considering the limitations of the default model.

Although it is still far from perfect, it should satisfy most kiwi sim-aviators! (It definitely looks better from the top side ;) )

You can download the repaint at AVSIM under the filename "nz_warbirds_dc3_v2.zip" and the zip size is only 587KB, which comes with detailed installation instructions.

Feel free to post any comments here...

Shes getting repainted in a few weeks time, so I have added a bit of dirt and grime to the paintwork to make it look a little more like it does in real life right now.

Find it on AVsim under the filename 'nz_warbirds_dc3_dirty.zip'

I've turned it into an AI version that flies Ardmore circuits.
Any clues as to the next paint job?

Scrap all of those links above, I have spent my day off school today redoing the dirty texture, and have added a light blue tint to the belly and underside of the engines and wings of the Dak, plus dulled down the white lines and fixed the RAF logo:

If you search AVSIM for 'nz_warbirds_dc3_four_pack_2006.zip' you can download a whole pack of 4 textures, which includes 3 previous versions above and today's new modded texture.

BTW- great to see it in AI mode Charl. Will it be part of the next GNZLAP? Is it possible to make it tour round Auckland CBD on Sunday afternoons?

As for clues as to the next paint job- well it's going to be a 1950's RNZAF replica... but that would be too difficult for me to create myself...

Good to see you put your spare time to productive use!
Will it be part of the next GNZLAP?

Absolutely, and it will Sunday cruise just like it is supposed to.
Ian Warren has volunteered to do the next paint, see if we can get him to do it on the default Dak so we can have an AI version.
