Hey guys, first post here - whoo!

Anyway, I recently got back from a flying course with the cadet forces and I also recently bought the aircraft that I was flying in for FSX, this being the Alabeo PA38 Tomahawk. I was hoping, if I asked nicely enough, if somebody could make a repaint of ZK-FML for FSX. Just adds to the realism really.

Thanks,
Tommo.

Here's a couple reference images.

Another picture.

Hi Tommo cool.gif and Welcome to NZFF and in with a mission ... charge in with a request, I'm sure plenty of people here would be able to get that done for you, I don't own the Tomahawk but I plenty here will take up the task.

Cheers Ian. If there's anyone who doesn't have the paint kit but wants to have a crack, give's a yell and I'll flick you a link.

Hey Tom. Made a start on FML tonight, mostly just getting my head around the paint kit (one of those non-layered jobbies) and fiddling with placement, proportions, colors etc at the moment. Heaps more to do, just thought you might like to know its underway:

PS - Tom, do you, or anyone else have access to this machine to take some additional detail pics? Seems like its registered to an address in Blenheim?

I don't have access to the aircraft anymore, seen as though I'm back home from my course, but I can scour the internet and my photos for some more, when I find them I'll chuck them up here.

Thanks, it looks awesome so far!

EDIT: Found a picture from of the starboard side of the aircraft. Largely the same as the port side, apart from the sun making it look a little paler than it is.

Nice one Tom, that's helpful. Would be good to get some airborne shots of whats under the wings and fuselage but that's not likely in the short term. Made a bunch of fixes tonight, mostly done now...

Am off to Whangarei for the weekend as of end of day tomorrow so wont get it finished till Monday now, gotta fix the spinner color and the tone of the cheat lines, but here's a progress pic, will send you a set of Textures to test, be really keen to see if the colors in your Sim match what you remember from real life...

Cheers Ian. Jeeze for a small we aircraft and what looks like a simple livery it's actually been pretty time consuming. What doesn't help is the paint kit has the fuselage, door, tail and stabiliser all split into three areas at different angles and flipped on one side, very fiddly. Will crack on and do some more NZ paints while I'm in the mode smile.gif

I had Greg stop by the other other day and show him the RAZBAM A4 Golden Skyhawk template ... most would go UM ! !!!! ? Ill make a new posting just to show how silly the painting maps for some off these aircraft can real screw with your brain case .

In regards to the cheat line(s), they're a silvery finish, giving them different colours in every picture. But if you put them as silver, as seen in the first picture below, that would suffice. On the wings, the cheat lines wrap around the underside of the wing, however, they stop before coming onto the ailerons. So imagine it wrapped around everywhere on the wing, apart from those ailerons.

In regards to the underbelly, just the same colour of the fuselage with no distinguishments.

Sorry to drag up an old thread but just realised I never actually released this after sending it to Tom. If anyone wants this texture you can download it now at Avsim...

Fun wee aircraft, am tempted to go on and paint a few more NZ regos, not many photos or inspiring liveries about though sadly.

Awesome Ian. Grab a single shot of each and then we can drill into detail shots for the ones that look most interesting. I'm sure you'll pick the ones that are of more interest anyway smile.gif

Once again, thanks for doing the repaint for me. I always go for a hoon it in to rediscover that nostalgia when I first started flying.. It's great! laugh.gif

Here's a shot of Marlborough Aero Club's ZK-DML at Omaka if you're keen. Sorry I don't have a clearer shot of the tail graphics.
