PA28 Paintkit Confusion

Discuss aircraft addons and repaints for Flight Simulator here

Postby ardypilot » Wed Sep 05, 2007 5:30 pm

I'm trying to paint the Just Flight Flying Club Piper PA28 (trial version available here) in the colours of the Massey Uni fleet, and have a few questions.

This is my progress so far- looks alright from the top half.

However, underneath there is a stretched patch of blue which I can't locate on the paintkit bmp.

I have uploaded the bmp here: http://www.uploadhut.com/id9323/try2.bmp (4mb) Original paintkit here: http://www.justflight.com/communityDownloa...adCommunityID=4

Does anyone with (or even without) the model know what part of the bmp is causing this?

Also, does anyone know where I can find a high res version of the massey tail logo on the net?

Ahhh... awesome!

I have a few pics which may just help you with the logo etc.

Id be keen to see the final result!

I think i found the problem area... you've been a bit happy with the blue paint dry.gif

If I add in some RED like so...

we get this:

Thanks HCP, that fixed it.

I've been playing around trying to get the rego and bottom logo to fit, but with my limited skill creating repaints I can't seem to get it right (it crosses between the front and back fuselage sections on each side in the above shown paintkit)- so, if anyone wants to finish it off for me- just send me a PM. Otherwise I'll scrap it, sorry.

I find the best way is to build a side by joining front and back parts in a new document (there's a certain amount of overlap, so take care). You can then add the reg etc, and paste each half back into the original texture sheet. Once you've created the template, further paints are a doddle...

Thanks very much to Dan who added all the decals including the tail logo which he drew by hand!

Unfortunately, I could not add the words MASSEY along the underside of the wings (how often do you look there anyway) due to the crappy paintkit, but I've uploaded what you can see above to avsim under the filename massey_warrior.zip, should be available within 24 hours.

Thanks again to Dan for coming through! clapping.gif
