yeah had 123 mm in 24 hr period laugh.gif nearly washed off the road coming up the road we live on at a steep sharp corner with a large water puddle in a sort of lake up the top laugh.gif needless to say i slowed down a bit after that. cant imagine many people would have turned up to an outdoor viewing in that weather.

Good luck guys, looks like a good forecast for the weekend. I'll be in Palmy for the stockcars otherwise I'd be there with bells on.

Mike, if the projector doesn't want to play with the pc I have one you can borrow, it's only ever been used with the dvd player / consoles but it has VGA input so I presume it does computers ... No screen though (that's what walls are for laugh.gif )

Sorry was going to advise earlier - anytime before 8:30pm doesnt really suit me (I have three young kids etc etc)...so 8:30 pm would be a better time for me.

Any projector will be much brighter on a proper reflective screen than on a matte finish wall, so you should be right. Of course if the screen is in sunlight you're pretty much in the cart ... Are you able to try it on a screen in daylight ?

Cheers

if worst comes to worst might have to resort to putting up a little shade on the front of the tent (not all of the front just half or something. however that is worst case scenario. im sure it will be fine with the shade provided by the tent.

The front of the tent will be closed off a little bit anyway due to a banner on one side and a shelfunit (if needed) on the other.

I think I can also get a projector screen from work

Think 'Timmo' has it in control , the thing to remember is were on a dusty airfield .. your equipment is the primary concern .. the display even an old box folded away in the case we need it , Tim is incoming with black card and tape if required , I brought sheets for many displays i did , cheap enough , I think you will be fine on the day but its always best to have back up resource .

Righto Ho- The tent is set up and all tha major bits of furniture are in there too.

Ive made and printed a big history of Flightsim document as well as bought some DVDs to make up some fundraising discs....so burning those is tonights job.

The other day I sent a press release to the major news establishments....probably wont use it but its worth a try! (Excuse the lame self-quotes but I was in a rush haha)

Virtual Flight Enthusiasts Descend On Airshow

TAURANGA, New Zealand (February 4th, 2010) - New Zealand’s most popular flight simulation community, the New Zealand Flight Simulation Forums (NZFF.org), will be stationed at this weekends’ Tauranga City Airshow.

Board moderator and scenery designer Tim Barnes considers this an exciting step for the 1300 member internet based group which has been operating since 2006 and is free to join.
“This is an exciting opportunity to share our passion with the wider aviation community and show just how far flight simulation has come. Microsoft’s flight simulator is 30 years old this year and many people will be blown away by the level of fidelity that the latest version of the program providesâ€￾.

Although the group caters mostly for Microsoft’s Flight Simulator series, they also provide support and discussion for most other simulation titles in use in New Zealand.
“We serve as a gathering point for a range of ‘simmers’ varying from young children getting their first taste of controlling an aircraft through to people that use the software to practice procedures for their real life flying activitiesâ€￾.

The Tauranga Airshow runs over Saturday and Sunday this weekend (6h & 7h February 2010) and NZFF will have their own display tent giving live simulation demonstrations, machinima (movies made using flight simulator programs) and selling RealNZ brand software which enhance New Zealand’s major airports in the simulator.

“There is something really satisfying in nailing a complex procedure or flying the same aircraft used in the displays around a simulated Tauranga. The whole group is looking forward to itâ€￾.

Weather is looking good- see you tomorrow!

Excellent Stuff, I will come and visit for sure, I think it's great that this is showing the public what a neat NZ flight sim community we have.
I will be on duty marshalling and organising aircraft when to taxi on the airside of the airshow so I will be wearing a high viss yellow vest walking eveywhere, so when some dude in a yellow vest approaches the tent that's me!!

Sunday I will be working at Flight Experience (big blue building with a 737 on top) so drop by and introduce yourself when you pass through, have a look at the simulator if you havent already.

Vampire, Corsair and Spitfire all arrived in the last day so I can't wait to I see this display!!
Going to be one bloody good show everyone!!
