For the weekend of the 6th and 7th of February 2010 Tauranga will be host to the inagural Tauranga City Airshow. The New Zealand Flightsim Forums (NZFF) kindly supported by RealNZ Scenery products will have a stall giving demonstrations of who we are and what we do as well as selling and demonstrating RealNZ scenery.

Due to the high numbers of visitors expected over the two days, this represents a fantastic opportunity to raise the profile of our community and flight simulation in general. It also represents a potential way to gather donations from the public in order to continue to offer NZFF as a no-cost, advert free resource and focus point for Flightsim in New Zealand.

What can you do to help?

Could you, or someone you know provide
An enclosed tent/gazebo that we can borrow for the weekend?
Slab tables
Display boards?

If so, send me a Private Message via my profile

Can you provide:
Videos, screenshots and other media showcasing NZFF, RealNZ or Flightsim in New Zealand? (Keep an eye out for further details about these)?
A donation to help pay for the site and power? (details on how to do this shortly)

Will you be there?
Would you be willing to help man the stall to give the core staff a bit of time off?
Wear a NZFF T-Shirt?
Hand out NZFF fliers?
Direct people to the stall and recommend they buy the RealNZ products available?

So far the team consists of

Organising Team
Me (Timmo)- Project Manager (providing a computer and hopefully a projector to show videos, screen shots)
Paul (Naki)- Asst Project Manager
Robin Corn/Windowlight- Principle sponsor and site vendor.
Mike (Creator2003)- Media Manager (providing a computer and banner)
Gavin (Kahu Project) - Asst Media Manager (organising screen shot and video competitions, collating other media to show- You don't have to be attending the airshow to do this)

Helping on the day
Ian Warren - Team Member
PilotGallagher- Team Member

So it's all go! The site (88) is booked but there is still a lot of organising to do.

I could help out on the manpower side of things..and probably a few other things. There are a few simmers in Tauranga - if we can get a few more people invloved from NZFF it could be a goer.

im in tauranga and know the boss who is running the airshow quite well, the only problem is I would rather watch the airshow than be in a tent.
however is an excellent idea

Quite agree! What about a [relatively] unmanned/display only stand, though? A few posters, info, contact details etc.?

This is 'unnofficial' at the moment and I haven't made enquiries with the organising team nor the rest of the NZFF admin/mod team but im sure if the interest is there and people can give some firm committment, then we can take it to the next stage.

I think its a great idea to spread the interest around, and an airshow would be a perfect environment to do this- you certainly have my approval as administrator smile.gif

We still have this flyer stored on our system which can be printed out and handed around, or others can knock up a new one. I don't know how busy I'm going to be with flying at the beginning of February, so I'll leave this up to those with more enthusiasm to organise, but will be sure to stop by if I make it down!

I have now confirmed that Ruapheu Signs & myself will sponsor/ donate one banner 3m or so digital print ,plus two cor-flute real estate type signs digital prints ,these can have any design /photo /screenshot ,just about anything that can be printed ..
so we will have some designing to do maybe a comp ? the signs/ prints can be printed at any notice so we have plenty of time ...
ill await to hear from the rest of the team for details ...

also i dont mind bringing my PC down and sitting there all day if it helps promote our great forum ,im sure ill still be able to see the action from where we will be located ,not like they are on the ground all day ..

Nice work guys. I may be away early Feb but if not I'll definately head over to TGA for one of the two days and can certainly spend some time on the stand.

Ok guys- Ill send an enquiry to the Airshow organizing committee.

I think if we can get people that are heading to the airshow to perhaps donate an hour of their time each, we shouldn't have too much problem sorting it out.

Ive taken my PC to schools etc ,the kids were great on the sim and really enjoyed it ,Im happy for people to have a go on my sim if its able to be setup there ,ill just bring my cr@p joystick, its about time it died in good fashion ,
seeing we are almost there with arrangements we should start thinking about our sim banner and signs ,at least it can all be done waiting for the show ,ill make a template up with some ruff stuff on it to give you a idea of what can be printed /size etc
mike

Im not sure of exact costs- The site is free but there is a cost to get power to the site although I'm unsure if that cost is made free as well? We will also need to organise a gazeebo or tent (preferably with sides thick enough to bock out a bit of sun [or rain blink.gif ]).

The way I envisaged it would be (depending on computers etc)

1 computer set up showing/running flight sim on screen
1 computer set up though a projector looping FS videos (i.e. http://www.jaggyroadfilms.com), NZFF Banners and screenshots etc. We can switch over to the 'live sim' every-now and then.

A couple of display boards showing a few things- I.e. custom NZ scenery map showing where addon scenery has been made, printed screen shots, site stats, NZFF ethos and URL, history of MS flight simulator etc etc

A donation box to help pay for the site/setup with any left over going into helping run the site etc.

Im not sure what the rules are about this, but Robin, perhaps some advertising of the RealNZ products? Regardless, im sure they will feature heavily in what is being shown on the sim and in discussions anyway.

If someone wants to put their hand up, perhaps we could organise a NZFF Video competition and show the results of that on the projector too?

I don't have a projector personally but may be able to source one. If anyone has contacts to cheap/free gear that would be useful, that would be helpful.

Any other ideas, post em up!
