Many years ago the Team Speak channel was set up for members to use for Multiplayer flight simming but we have decided that it can be used for many things other than just for flight simming.
It is used now by the admin for their NZFF monthly meetings

Other uses it can be used for include fixing PC technical problems, fixing some flight sim problems and also for up and coming developers to learn the ins and outs of Scenery making IE; placing autogen, modeling of buildings and aircraft etc or just swopping information all without having to use and wait for answers from PMs or forum posts.

The way it could work is for someone with a problem to post it on the forum and then for someone with the knowledge to fix the problem send the the problem seeker a PM and arranging a meeting on Team Speak where the guy with the fix can talk the other one through fixing for their problem without the long wait of multiple posts or PMs (it is much easier and quicker to fix a problem by talking with each other)

The NZFF TeamSpeak Channel is currently owned by Ian Warren and he would like to see it used a lot more by NZFF members for the above purposes.

All thoughts on this matter are open for discussion so please give us your opinions.

To tell you the troof, Doug.... winkyy.gif ...

I tried "Team Speak" many years ago, in FS 2002, on the old 56k, 2-hour, Dial-up days, and I found...
(a) It took forever to set-up after disconnecting all my other studio keyboard audio stuff plugged into my computer, round the back!.
(b) It made my ears uncomfortably hot after a very short while.
( c ) It demanded that I listened to "Redneck speech" from my Chums across the Pond!

....after all that, I found that I had much more fun using the trusty "Chat Window", and enjoying each others spelling/grammatical errors, etc!.... laugh.gif ...!

...and everyone typed in "English"... winkyy.gif ...!

I "Multiplay" most days for the past 14+ years using "Chocolate Software" many FS Host servers, which enable me to connect to Multiplayer in seconds, in FS 2002, FS 2004 and FSX, and immediately start chatting via the Chat Window...no headphones or microphones!

Teamspeak is ideal for everyone set up in advance to use it, but for Multiplayer connection at a moments notice (which it often is!), I always use FS Host and the Chat Window!

..and those bloody headphones still make my ears too bloody hot for comfort! ....angry.gif .... laugh.gif. ...!

Paul.... cool.gif ...!

I simply use a ten dollar desktop mic and with your Right Ctrl key use to activate talk ... a very helpful tool

I use TS probably 3x a week for multipla sessions and find it simply brilliant. I do use bluetooth headset for mike and sound (so I can wander off and make a cuppa or whatever and still be in contact) but have also used it with desktop mike and speakers. Works well both ways.

I suspect that Doug is getting at the way in which I use Skype and TeamViwer - that is for support issues with other people. That combination works very well and usually means that issues can easily be sorted out quickly via a remote connection. It would be just as effective to use TS and Teamviewer instead of Skype for chatting back and forth as we work though the problem(s). A dedicated channel or 2 might be useful for that sort of support on occasion I guess.

Helpful and in regard to meeting people , you start to understand them , basically being more open and honest and that also is shown across other FS or multiplay sites - Its what glues people together rather the .. put word on paper ... communication and talk .... works better that the historical paper wavering saying this is right and how to do it .

For the lessors who do not understand the meaning there - 1938 and the then PM after the Munich Crisis .. TALK , you get a better understanding and quick fix's .

Ive used teamveiwer quite a bit to help people sort out problems. If we used that and ts it would be a brilliant combination i think

Yeah, no I think it should be used more often. I'm on there a little bit, and I find it heaps easier to talk to people on there then I do on here. And it's already proved its worth fixing a few problems with my profile here on NZFF. So use it more, it's there, so we may as well.
