Yeah it was a scorcher in the upper parts of the South Island today. We left Karamea at 11am where it was about 24 and it never got below that temperature until we were on the ferry. Dad's car was reading 31.5 degrees coming up the Wairau valley and it's generally pretty accurate. As could be expected we arrived back into Wellington to wind and a bit of rain.
