Hi everbody,
I am new to this forum but i just want to say that i will be embarking on a journey around the South Island (NZ) if anybody wants to join me???. Here is where we are going:
Legs:
1. Take off from Nelson airport and fly to Karamea. We will then fly from Karamea down to Greymouth and then head inland, and fly over Arthurs Pass to Christchurch intl. aiport, for the night.
2. Fly from Christchurch, SW to Tekapo airport. Here we will refuel and take off and fly up Lake Tekapo around Mt Cook and land at Mt Cook village. We will then fly to Omarama, for the night.
3. Depart Omarama and fly through over the Lindis Pass (at low altitude). We will carry on and land at Wanaka airport. Re-fuel here and then depart for very scenic flight up lake Hawea (up to main divide), and down the main divide then up the Wilkin River Valley, past Mt Aspiring. We will then land back at Wanaka for the night.
4. We will fly down to cromwell and through the Kawarau Gorge and into queenstown to re-fuel. Then we will fly up Lake Wakatipu and over the Routeburn saddle, then down and up the Hollyford valley. We will take a westerly de-tour and fly down into milford Sound for the night.
5. The next morning we will depart early for a very scenic flight out to the Tasman sea, down the coast, over the ranges and into Te Anau.
This trip is going to be great. It will be a very relaxed journey with alot of sightseeing!!
Anybody want to join me???
Thanks.
