I've decided to put all tiki touring screens on one thread. winkyy.gif

As you all know, I haven't flown in NZ in a while. I've been flying across Aussie and north into Asia. This is my little "project" at the moment. I intend to always fly local-ish aircraft, to use those models that never see the sky because they just don't fit in NZ. I'm also scrounging for great freeware sceneries to show off to NZFF as I fly around. New_Zealand_etc.gif My bandwidth is in for a hammering! laugh.gif

I won't start from Christchurch again, there have already been a few posts about my trips so far. I am currently in Manila, Philippines and am heading north to Taipei. Stay tuned for screens. cool.gif

Good idea connor, looking FWD to seeing them, oh and do consider putting it in the Flights forum area rather than screenshots as its more than just collection of pics...

You know, I never thought of that. I wouldn't have a clue how to move it either. unsure.gif

Well, I won't bore you with numerous night shots, I find they all look mostly the same. winkyy.gif

After take off, over manila (yeah, airbus x3, boeing next time, I promise!)

This is on short final to Taipei, very very good scenery here. thumbup1.gif

The scenery is so good, I would recommend downloading it and flying straight to Taipei, just to see it.

All A/C parking spots are spot on, all custom, photoreal buildings....

...photoreal ground texture, animated trains that run around between the terminals, and road traffic.

Superb scenery, here at Avsim.

Taipei to Okinawa

As promised, a Boeing on this journey. winkyy.gif Captain Sim 767 in a Japan Airlines scheme.

Starting in Taipei is a pleasure with the great airport scenery, plenty of unfamiliar AI to please the eye as well.

Takeoff was standard, quite a bit of turbulence though. wacko.gif

It's not a very long flight, especially with a nice tail-wind, and before you know it you're lining up for the approach to Naha, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan.

Initially I was a bit concerned that my rather large 767-300 would stick out in ROAH. But there are quite a few heavies floating around here, a couple of military birds as well.

As I said when I started, i want to fly some local models that fit into the local area a bit better. I took Tim Conrad's T-2 for a spin.

It was dusk, so I had to make it a quick flight. She's certainly not an easy plane to fly. Handles like rubbish at anything below 250 IAS, and you've really got to watch you're AoA. rolleyes.gif

I also caught up with a USMC KC-130R on the flight.

And that is that. I'm looking forward to tiki-touring Japan, with some unfamiliar aircraft and some different scenery.

Quite hard to do when you're trying to fly next to a C-130. tongue.gif

I've had a scout out about where I'd like to fly in Japan. Here is the route I'll probably fly.

I'm trying to scrounge together some Japanese aircraft, but I'm having a bit of trouble. sad.gif Any nice (freeware) models out there?

Here is my gleaning of screens to offer to you all. biggrin.gif I've made it up to Tokushima Airport, a stones throw from Kansai Intl and Osaka. Progress has been slow (damn that schoolwork) but I've got the scenery set for the next few legs so there will be no fluffing round downloading and installing aircraft. winkyy.gif I'm quite enjoying Japan, the scenery reminds me of a densle populated NZ in places. Some nice freeware aircraft found, namely the YS-11 from here, but nothing much to report on the scenery front. The Kitakyushu Airport scenery was the best, a bit of a mongrel to install due to copious amounts of bad links and Japanese readmes, which in a txt file is a whole lot of %║■ÀþÜ↕'s and is completely unreadable. All the rest of the scenery was simple afcad overpopulated with default scenery objects. rolleyes.gif

Anyway, the screens...

Hope you like them, feel free to ask any questions. plane.gif

A few more screens from the last week or so. smile.gif

Some of the city scenery in Japan is superb, most of the main cities are done. The files aren't to big, the photos are pretty good and the scenery objects have night lighting and all the rest. Here's the link, it's a bit hard to follow being in Japanese, but follow your nose, if you get stuck have a look at Google translate to help you out.

Next stop is Tokyo, looking forward to the scenery. biggrin.gif

Yeah, she operates a bit differently, I've never met a turboprop with Water/Methanol injection, but it's a fun plane to fly similar in handling to an Andover or HS748. A good aeroplane. cool.gif

A slight frame drop, but I think that's due to the masses of AI traffic that are there. Still 15-20fps, so not amazing, but good enough. smile.gif Thanks for your interest.

Hmm.. sounds good. I think I'll go get that one. I don't use AI traffic so that will help my performance. I'm buzzing around Asia myself at the moment, currently in Calcutta, India. So i'm keeping an eye on your tour for interesting places to go winkyy.gif

If you want to go as far north as Japan, some of the scenery there is pretty fantastic. cool.gif

I'm with you on the YS-11, can't remember if it's Team KBT but it approaches their best work - great sound too.
Kansai... one of the best freeware sceneries I can remember; amazing engineering feat, they keep jacking it up because the man-made island settles over time.

Alister, it's a fair hop from India to Japan, why not stop in on the way and look at some excellent Chinese Airports?
If you Google Skysoft Simulation ZUJZ you'll probably come right, otherwise just go to avsimrus and search Skysoft.
Jiuzhai Huanglong airport is over 10,000ft above sea level and so will test your long-haul aircraft's capabilities...
From there you could hop over to the east coast: Hefei Luogang International ZSOF 2011, also by Skysoft, also very nice.

I get around more than you might imagine laugh.gif 8 hour flights are nothing for me (on a weekend). Weeknights are usually 2-4 hour flights.
Just landed in Bangkok with a nice scenery from avsimrus, after passing through China (lots of airports missing there on FS9 and FSX, an afcad package is a must)
I've got Taipei from Connor all set up now, and will look back towards China after that. Then a few hops between China, Taipei, Japan, and this nice VTBS scenery are in order (will fly China Airlines B738 & B744 for a bit)
I'm off to get those Skysoft airports now, cheers Charl!
