I do, thats why I download the airport region (Near 1.GB) and I might put it away for a rainy day(week/month/year) project.

Try getting over 1.5gb and see if you can download it

It is a rather big download, and a waste for someone as inexperienced as me. Good luck to anyone that does tackle it though laugh.gif

Yes, about 1GB seems to be the limit, although this does change at different times, I suppose depending on the demand. Currently downloading a 996MB file, but it is slow!
In the past I've bought aerials from Koordinates, in the early days on DVD, latest ones tend to arrive on flash drives. Nice site to deal with.

It really is coming along, I love the defined roads, traffic and vegetation. I am also glad the roofs are fixed

We want other photo material rather than EQ damage , as great as the photo is , studied it , why cannot they release a pre EQ photo free .. its worthless unless you had 100,000 hungry simmer wanting to land in CHCH .

It's looking good but one thing I would like to see as a higher resolution photo background. What's the likelihood of being able to find something like that to go with all the nice work that Ian's done?

I noticed as i worded on compared to Nelson , the higher resolution really is an advantage in placing AGNs .. fact is this is all we have to work with and this is still far better than the 2000/2 photo , i think a little photo edit is required , but first to get the source .

Map Toaster uses LINZ imagery, so their highest resolution is 2.5 m/px where available, otherwise 10 m/px. The 2.5m images are what make up the older Real NZ and Godzone stuff, but LINZ no longer release any of this. These days for FSX 2.5m is very low, 1.2m would be considered the minimum (this is the resolution of standard FSX scenery tiles). I aim for at least 60cm for urban areas, 15cm for airports, which is very hard to come by in NZ.

For those who d/load the Christchurch Photoreal scenery and have issue , the complete and update files have been moved .
Moved the d/load link for Christchurch photoreal to http://nzff.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17417[/quote]

Is this link available to everyone on the forum? - I get a broken link message when I select it.

Cheers - Ran

Oops, that might have been my fault. Ian and I talked about 'resurrecting' this sub-forum yesterday, but I didn't realise the permissions needed tweaking. Give it a go now.

Working further into the city with AGNs , the Primary target tho is Christchurch International Airport , ... the big task is deciding what you want to place ie:
the boundary for starters , Doug jumped in and produce these early results out along Russley Road turning on McCleans Island Road

The raw image showing a very hi resolution airport area , course has to be tweaks to match the current ongoing effort bring the greens inline to match the
existing photo area and you will have the opportunity to watch it grow a get regular updates

Working further around Avonhead Rd and Greys Rd into Ryans Rd and to complete the connection onto Pound Rd alway around the western boundary back onto
McCleans Island Road all in the highest possible resolution .

A snippet in around the Memorial Avenue heading towards the city , maybe a edit for the Ave defining it better , course move into the city center with a pre
Earthquake build ... course looking at a Lyttleton Harbour rebuild ... so best keep tune in for updates . Its a Snazzy project ! Christchurch Rebuild ! cool.gif

I finally tracked down the archive with the Cathedral Square models etc -- wow, textures are dated March 2002, that's a decade old. A lot of water under the bridge since then. Textures are absolutely shocking, I'll replace them all. And the models. Actually, that's everything. Oh well.
