i still think this forum should still be locked down and used for NZ designers and those interested in doing work with NZ scenerys

Could you post a sticky with the server details?

The server is no longer available as I no longer work for the company.

I've never found out if snowman is part of this, if so, I'm more than happy to download all his sceneries, and make them into a single download, and update that as he releases more.

At this stage, I just don't know what sceneries have been done, and what the levels were required.

I think I might just download all the fs2004 sceneries off avsim, and try and contact the authors and see how I go.

If you have sceneries available on avsim and willing to give your permission (all credits will be maintained, and no adjustments will be made apart from making them all into one folder.)

What I need is an pm from you stating the filename, where it can be found and a statement saying this can be used.

With regards to the server, NZFF could come to the party... the space is not an issue anymore (since the new hosting).

From where I sit, Frenzy is not going to be another VOZ.
Looking at where flightsim is headed, I'd say there'd be room for some integrated package releases though.

I just did a simple one with Lawrie, and it was a lot of fun:
flick over the idea of an AFCAD to make the AI do certain things, Lawrie flattens it and makes it look good with a bit of scenery, back and forth...
Deane allowed us use of his Fletcher base files, Marty Strong came up with a wireframe low-poly model which I textured and massaged for AI...and so on, a bit of value added each time.
Nobody re-inventing the wheel (really important, that) but buildng on what others have done.
That's progress.

NZ has talent aplenty in the necessary categories...
Scenery design
AI stuff
Aircraft + repaints

Perhaps toss some thoughts around about more such NZ packages?
FSX would have the added dimension of missions, too.

Yeah it would be nice to be all on the same page and continue with a great package but i think the 2 sims are clashing now ,there mite need to be a FSX team and FS9 team as trying to put those to together is just impossible ,when doing Vasar in oz i made two sets of sim objects one for FS9 one for FsX, this was ok at first no problem if they are basic models but trying to get the two looking the same with default stuff and making missions to get the two together was just not working and i was having to lower my standards in FSX to support those in FS9 ,, now i have a guy thats building for 9 for 9 users and placing my old 9 objects ,and me doing X for X users but this is spilting the group up like we have seen before in forums and users ,there is not a level playing field now its one or the other ..
planning for each sim and getting a group to do one and other to do the other is the only way i can see this working in the future ,and the goal would have to be set for each platform not the both together

we have got alot of talent in NZ more so than in oz i think or they wouldn't of needed me to help so why cant we do what they have done already and cover our land ..

Well so far we're hearing more from FSX users - I'm starting to fly more in X with the AU series, so don't mind either way.

Also using maps2bgl seems to work better for FSX - though I keep ending up with huge errors sad.gif

I don't have access to any NZ airports - kinda because I live 100km from Perth.

But want to help somewhere! I love flying Aussie at the moment, but still prefer NZ overall

Well, regardless, I've set up some space if you want to upload things here at NZFF.

So, instructions:
  1. Visit http://nzff.org/frenzy/upload.html
  2. Choose your file1 to upload and click 'Submit'
  3. A page should2 come up confirming that things are a-ok, when the upload has finished
  4. Visit http://nzff.org/frenzy/upload to check or download files

A couple of notes...

This is meant mainly for you guys to use, it's pretty easy to abuse, so be careful who you tell... rolleyes.gif
Again, meant mainly for 'peer-to-peer' work, if you want us to host something for the 'public' to download, shoot me off a PM and I can help set you up with that. smile.gif

1. At the moment the only file types you can upload are .zip, .rar, .jpg/.jpeg, .txt and .gif. winkyy.gif
2. If you upload a file that isn't one of the above file-types, an error will come up. Things are capped at 50Mb, if you want to upload larger files get in touch and we'll sort out an easier way (usefulness of this type of uploading decreases the larger the file is > think: timeouts etc). smile.gif

Any q's feel free to fire away, also any suggestions are welcome.

Cheers,

Alex

i still want to see a freeware project done for NZ and this is or will be the place to start one seeing we have all the scenery builders and a long line of guys that know something about projects like this ,we just need movement a plan and a start and finish of each stage ,
so lets do something have a FS9 plan though lawrie has done a great job of covering that ,so how about a FSX plan we in NZ are lacking big time on this side of things

So are we still intending to split the 'source' files and the 'finished' files? If so, how will we denote that? (either another folder or a suffix on the zip file)
Also, if we are to provide the source data (especially for things like aerial photos) then the 50MB cap may be hard?

I would suggest that everyone places/groups their data in a zip file- Keeps things tidy.
