So I went for a tour of a C-17 at the operation deep freeze apron today :)

Here's some pictures of it and some pictures taken down in antarctica by a friend of mine.

Walking over to the C17

Inside, the bottom of the back door flips down and the top flips up.. It makes a really loud banging noise and shakes the whole plane when it opens :D

This is an extended range model plane too, so that big grey thing up the top is extra fuel tanks

Go upstairs and theres some bunks that the flight crew use to rest on long journeys

Some blurry sign with serial numbers on it :P

Upstairs you find one of these to talk you through all the knobs and buttons, top bloke

Further back shot of the bunks and a bit of the stairs which are almost vertical

Theres some C-130s parked around the place

Some screens and knobs :D

Out the window, they're surprisingly high up

Jumpseat, I wanted to take a ride down to the ice, but nah :(

Flight displays

I'm sitting in the captains seat :D

HUD off

HUD on

South Pole station, flying from McMurdo to the south pole to do an air drop of supplies

Kicked up a storm when they landed at McMurdo

And some more pics of ICE
