Good on you for getting out there in less than average conditions and giving it a go.
The light might not have been the best but I got some C130 shots with 7 rows of prop contrails so that made the trip down more than worthwhile

Hmm, I've seen certain models in FS that show the jet blast from the rear of the engine, not really heat haze though, I guess.
