Great pics anyway ham thumbup1.gif thumbup1.gif I can remember doing "hooch hunts" ex wigram in the hueys, and the stuff was always easy to spot from the air....much greener than the other vegetation, and seemed to planted under or near the power lines.

I remember one trip, we spotted some dude walking down a bush track in the oxford area , carrying some irrigation gear, by the time we swung around and found him again he was carrying a fishing rod winkyy.gif , needless to say we dropped the local cop off in the zone and they got a good bust.
Those were great trips...always a bit nerve wracking because some of the "farmers" had shooters.......also remember having the back of the chopper full of plants, hanging out both side doors, and having to clean it out after the op......my hands were green for days .I really think we sowed more seeds than the farmers themselves, as the plants were really big....and the rotor wash etc.

Sorry about all the "remembers"

Actually Marty - just thinking the way they were flying the heli - they were Probably Spraying the dope like this:
One of the biggest cannabis plots was found in hills near Kaeo. It took a helicopter 45 minutes to douse the 300-plus plants with herbicide spray coloured with blue dye.

Think their was also a Spotter Aeroplane flying around also Police 5.

I think they dye the herbicide blue to Show the growers that it has been sprayed and not to smoke it or try and sell it or something that effect?.

how can they justify using a helo in that sort of area? surely it must of been some testing or something?? and the hovering... where do the police find their pilots????

Splitpin, I also remember seeing the hueys loaded up like you described smile.gif

Problem was trying to stop it getting sucked out the sides, sometimes the plants were taller than the huey was wide.....so we did end up sowing a few seeds here and there ninja.gif
Those Op's were so time limited, and would never have worked without the local cops.......fun days.....lots of free morning tea's on the local farms, those 3 Det pilots can smell a fresh scone from over 10k's away smile.gif

We also had a few bad(not serious)PR incidents.....if you'll allow me one more "i remember".......i think it was out near coalgate somewhere, after gassing up on the local sports ground....started up, and the captain backed us up across the field for a run at the locals and then the steep pull up etc .....crewman watching behind...too late, as we backed over a low tree line stuff started flying all over the place....pull forward and land.
What we didnt see, or were told, was, there was a group of people in about 6 light weight tents camping just behind the trees.. winkyy.gif ..now they were camping but had no tents.
No one hurt, but they were real anti for a while.....that sortie was aborted, and the next 2 hours spent locating and reassembly of the tents....and other stuff.

There are lots more "remembers".......but not today smile.gif

Very strange indeed. Just looks like a fire fighting bucket on the end of a cable. They were hovering lots (from the video) which doesn't indicate spraying. Anybody with a 500D model could replicate this for this month's comp....guess you could call it "crop" dusting. What about a electro-magnet...searching for crims' weapons or other metallic objects. Anyway I think they were just training. It would be a scary for the guy hanging out the door with all that wind buffeting.

I don't understand why the cultivation and supply of a (any) potentially dangerous substance is left in the hands of gangs and other 'undesirables'......didn't work for alcohol, wouldn't work for guns, doesn't work for this kind of thing.

The Govt dont like it becaise they cant get a tax off it , as for gangs , they should do the same thing done in Wanganui 'No patchs' full stop .
