Slow day at Taupo

Postby deeknow » Sat Oct 01, 2016 4:52 pm

Hey lads. Am in Taupo this weekend with my girls, were having a quiet day, had already ticked off Hot Pools, Prawn fishing and Zip-lining so what else was there to do to top that off but do a trip to the bustling Taupo Aerodrome. Click on any of the pics following to get to a high res view at Flickr...

First up a couple of Cessna's operated locally, the 172 I flew in many moons ago on a rafting trip down the Mohaka river, good to see the old girl in ship shape..

Tidy looking 206, quite a funky livery...

Down the lane a little parked unceremoniously in a grass field was this Nomad ...

But the highlight was spotting this bad boy parked up on the Apron in front of the airport, first time I'd seen a Pllatus in the flesh...

A brilliant post, slow day .. who cares, ya on holiday ... the GAF Nomad , that would be a interesting one for maybe get 'Ant' to hook into, very New Zealand based and course were it come from.

Prawn Fishing ... Who dose not like Prawns .. YUMMY!

Course the ole 172 .. who's going to do a paint for ya A2A , nothing like being connected to the one you have flown.

Thanks Ian :) .. yeah good to make connections aye. Was a crazy bush strip we got dropped into high above the river, as you can see its setup with tundra wheels.

Here's a shot of our Prawn fishing, nice little family exercise...

Oh, and I forgot to share this pic of the famous McDonalds DC3 (formerly ZK-CAW) parked up in Taupo town, had to stop there for a burger and coffee as you can actually climb up into the old girl and sit/eat inside. Pretty cool.

GARLIC KING PRAWNS .. Super Yummy again .. tho not sure how to cook them the way they do it in a restaurant, least the special way, ...... think the McDonalds DC-3 could take a break, I think the Prawns are more important :)
