Another day of mixed weather, so I stopped by at the Kaikoura airstrip and got a few decent shots. Bit of a crosswind, and note the angle of the nosewheel and rudder in the second shot of the Gippsland GA8 Airvan

Great quality from an 18X optical zoom, with image stabilisation

Smooth landings

Great captures, those Gippsland machines are an interesting looking aircraft, wonder what the view of whales is like out those rear windows, anyone been up in one?

Not sure but I think that the yellow object in the rear window is an inflatable life raft.

Rudder looks a tad too small on the Gippsland, only a slight crosswind but they were using a lot of rudder.

Hand held photos using image stabilisation, taken at around 15-16X optical zoom on 100 ASA.

Smooth landings

Got to "fly" right seat in one five (or so) years ago, so cannot say what the rear window view is like. We were doing a preliminary photoshoot of NZKI and scored a free flight as there weren't enough paying passengers to fill the scheduled flight. (Even got to see a pod of whales.)
