Some flying was planned with the F-18s but the flight was scrubbed due to rough flying conditions.
Maybe next time.

For me flying with the La-9 was one of the coolest things I have done for a while and more than made up for the flight getting scrubbed.

Have an option to for a fly, but overseas so will try and get that done some time next year once some other flying is done first.

I really do wonder how the professional pilot compares the type , since they own it , to compare what country type was better , but i guess with so many few left we have to look after them , im just pleased , well think off the quality of the new generation off war movies .... late Friday 'Midway' and tonight 'Flying Leathernecks'

Gavin.

Was photography ship where you using to get those shots - where you 'inside' or 'outside'? If inside, how did/do you overcome the reflection of the inside of the canopy/windscreen? What camera and lens do you use - quite obviously a very high quality lens. Image stabiliser or just very fast shutter speeds - or both? Actually, I'm assuming not too fast or you wouldn't get the nice prop disk effect......

You get it all the time but I'm sure the compliments never get old and they're well deserved - Absolutely amazing shots there. Well done.

Camera ships were either Harvards with the canopy slid back or a Nanchang with the canopy removed all together.
Slow shutter speeds are used and my lenses are stabilised but have not seen any advantage to using them due to all of the vibration, wind speed disruption etc.
I use Canon L lenses and have more info on my website regarding this subject as well as the gear I use etc.

Have also just updated my website with a folder of photos from two flights earlier this year with the pair of BE.2 aircraft operated by TVAL
