At AVSpecs. The Warbird Restoration NZ Team has currently got A P-40, a Mk,14 Spitfire and a Mosquito.
Being in the Air NZ Engineering training course we got a field trip out to ardmore.

Sorry for the Phone Quality Pics, it was a 5MP Camera.
Enjoy.

Choice! This is the Mossie that will be at Omaka next easter for Classic fighters, before heading offshore... looking good.

Definitely keen to see pics of the others please!

I do wonder , Omaka next Easter for Classic fighters , I think they could be pushing it , the Hurricane took another two years .. before its debut at Wanaka , a complete rebuild , its so easy to rush things rather getting it right !

As I understand it, it's fairly unlikely it will be at Omaka next year, although I'm sure they'll be doing everything they can to get it flying as soon as possible, but you can't really rush these things! I think late next year is a more realistic date for the first flight.

Yeah for sure, though they're still advertising the WWII quintet as the centrepiece of the airshow...

I think its too early to say weather it will or wont appear at Classic Fighters next year.
Looking at those photos it is really moving along but in saying that a long way to go.

The owner is hoping it will be ready for Classic Fighters next year as is the AVSPECs team and if these guys have the will then who knows.
I guess the down side is that if it doesnt appear at Classic Fighters next year and flies before the end of 2011 then their isnt much chance that we will see it appear at an NZ airshow.

If it doesnt make it to Classic Fighters that will be sad but it wont be due to a lack of effort and I do know that it was a tough decision as to weather it should feature on the airshow poster but the desire was thier to try and get it ready in time. I guess most of will celebrate it if it does appear and be a bit dissapointed if it doesnt but that is sometimes how aircraft restoration goes.
Just cross your fingers and toes, we still have 8 months or so to go!!
